Her life was hard, and it wasn't getting any easier. He just made things more complicated.

Hard Times

Ever since I started school at Princeton High, my life has been miserable! I don’t fit in at all! Everybody makes fun of me, just because I get better grades than they do. One day…. I was in math class and I got my test back…I got a hundred and fourteen percent! Math is my specialty, but the only people who knew that are; me, my teachers, the principal, and my parents. I’m a straight A student. During that period, there was this really cute guy who sits behind me. “Hey, nice score! You’re really smart. I Like that. What’s your name?” he asked. “Thanks. It runs in my family. Yeah. Ellessari Price. I go by Ellessa.” I said. “You’ve got a pretty name. My name is Alessyan Carmichael. I go by Aless.” he said. “Nice to meet you. Nobody ever talks to me. Everyone ignores me.” He smiled. “Well, Ellessa, I will be your friend.”

I smiled politely. “Thanks, but don’t waste your time.” He looked confused. “But, I want to waste my time on a pretty girl like you.” I blushed a little and stared at him. “Look, you’re really cute and all, but I don’t think your friends would want you to be hanging out with someone like me. So save your breath and leave me alone.” The bell rang and I hurried out the door. I shoved all my books into my locker and I pulled out my writing binder. I practically ran to the lunch room and quickly grabbed my lunch. I sat at a table alone in the corner. “Do you see that girl over there?” Ayla just laughed. “You like her?” She asked. “Yeah, why? What’s wrong with her?” She smiled. “The dorky look, the clothes. She isn’t right for you.”

Alessyan walked over to my table and sat across from me. “Hey, look, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable in Math class. Friends?” he asked. “Umm.. I don’t know.” I said. “Take some time to think about it. Here is my e-mail address. Send me your answer.” I nodded and I went home that night and pondered what he said. “So.. That night, I got online and added him as a friend.”

Bookworm40: Aless? You there?

Populardude4: Hey!

Bookworm40:I just wanted to tell you that I’ve accepted you as my friend.

Populardude4: Sounds great!

Bookworm40: but you can’t be stalking me

Populardude4:Alright. I won’t

Bookworm40: Thanks. It makes me uncomfortable

Populardude4:ok

SK8TERGRL91:hey, Aless. What’s up?
Populardude4: Hey, Ayla! Not much. Ayla this is Ellessa Price.

SK8TERGRL91: Hi, Ellessa. I’m Ayla Carry.

Bookworm40: Nice to meet you Ayla.

SK8TERGRL91: Nice to meet you too, Ellessa ((logs off))
Bookworm40: Aless, I really like you

Populardude4:I like you too. I didn’t mean to scare you off today

Bookworm40: It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean to.

Populardude4: am I forgiven?
Bookworm40: yes.

Populardude4: will you go out with me

Bookworm40: um… let me think… yes!

The next day, Alessyan and I walked to school together. Everybody watched us enter the school grounds. We were holding hands and everyone was confused. Ayla was walking up to Alessyan when she spotted our hands interlocked. “What is going on here?” I sighed softly. “Alessyan and I are dating.” She sneered at me. “I wasn’t talking to you, slut.” He seemed angry about what she said. “How dare you! Don’t you ever talk to her like that! She is my girlfriend and I thought you would be a bit more understanding.” He yelled. “But, I’m not. You know what? I can’t believe that I liked you. I can have anyone and I choose you. Do you want to know why I choose you? Because you are funny, kind, caring, and sweet.” Sab appeared looking angry and confused. “What’s going on here?”

I sighed. “Well, Ayla called your sister a slut.” Sab picked up Ayla by her shirt. “If you ever go near my sister, talk to her, or even touch her, you will pay.” he put her down and she took off into the bathroom. “Thanks, bro.” He smiled. “No problem, sis.” Aless and I went for a walk after school. We hung out at the park until four thirty. Because I had gymnastics. I entered the gym and everyone was still in the locker-room. I hurried in and got changed into my leotard. I put my hair into a pony tail and left the room. After I had gymnastics, I was heading home when someone snuck up behind me and knocked me out. Everything went black until I awoke in the woods in a cabin, tied to a chair. Ayla appeared and had an evil look of guiltiness spread across her face. Ayla hit me and gave me a bloody nose and a black eye. All of a sudden, he appeared in the cabin and knocked her out. “Are you okay?”

I sighed in frustration. “No, I’m not. She broke my nose. What did I do to deserve this??” He sighed. “Well, you stole me away from her. But, I’m not saying that you deserved it.” We ran back to school and waited there. We hid inside to avoid her finding us. There were no teachers or students at the school, it was just us. “Why won’t she leave me alone?” I asked him. “I believe she has.. Your brother just walked out of the school, apparently she has a crush on him too.” I sighed and put my long red hair into a pony tail and I went to warn him. “Ellessa! Don’t!” I approached them, feeling angry at her for what she did to me. “So, have you seen her?” asked Ayla. “Ayla! Don’t you dare! He doesn’t like you!” She smiled wickedly. I had just fallen for her trap. “There you are! I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” Sab looked really confused. “Ayla, why are you looking for her?” She smiled. “Because we need to talk about why she did it.” I glared at her. “I didn’t plan it, it just happened. I hate having someone like you hating me. Can’t we all just be friends?”

I looked at my brother, hoping he could help me. “Could you help me out here?” Alessyan came around the corner and interlocked his hand in mine. “Ayla, please forgive them. They never meant for it to happen. Look, there is someone out there for you. You just have to look.” Just then, Arya appears and their hands interlock. “Hey, sis.” Ayla was shocked. “What are you doing with him?” Arya smiled happily. “Didn’t you know? We have been dating for a while now. You have told her.” Ayla ran from the scene and exploded into tears. She was so upset that she fell and hurt herself, but she didn’t care. I didn’t chase after her because she was the one who brought this on herself. Alessyan and I went back to my house and we were just hanging out and watching movies. It was late at night when I received a message from Arya. It said:

To: Bookworm40 From: Hotchick99

Ellessa,

Ayla attempted to kill herself. I managed to stop her. But, once I left the room, she succeeded in her own death. I guess all of this was too much for her. I didn’t mean to make you feel bad, but you did steal him from her. Bye.

“Aless, wake up! Ayla killed herself. She couldn’t take it anymore.” His eyes widened in shock and fright. “What? Oh my gosh. My best friend!” A lonely tear slid down his cheek. “Don’t worry. She won’t face anymore pain. I never meant for all this to happen. I never meant to steal you from her. It was just a spur of the moment. I wish that all of this would have never have happened!” Tears slid down my face and I acknowledged the horrifying truth. She deserved him, not me. I ran away from him and locked myself in the upstairs bathroom. “Ellessa! Come out of there.” He yelled. But, as he pounded on the door, I cried even harder.

Sab and Arya came home and Alessyan was pounding on the bathroom door. “What is going on?” He asked. “Ellessa locked herself in the bathroom. She hasn’t stopped crying. Ever since she received a message from Arya saying that Ayla was dead.” Arya was completely lost. “I never sent her anything. Let me see the name.” When she saw the name she sighed. “That’s not my name. My name is Hotchick44. That’s Ayla. She did try to kill herself but I stopped her in time. She just wanted to make Ellessa feel bad about taking Alessyan away from her.” I sighed, feeling relieved. “Did you hear that, Ellessa?” he asked. “Yeah” I replied.

“Please come out of the bathroom.” I unlocked the door and when I opened it, he enveloped me in a hug. Eventually, Ayla felt so depressed that she actually did kill herself. Those were hard times and no matter what happened, we still stayed together. Arya wasn’t happy that Ayla died, but her and Sabrae got married after high school.
