Authors all have their reasons for writing that first book—for me it was a paranormally charged necessity.

I began writing my first book for the mere reason that I felt no one had put out the information I personally was looking for and experiencing. So I figured if I can’t find what I need, there has to be others out there who are searching for the same information.

I was so busy when I wrote my first book, being a full-time student to become an occupational therapist (not an easy school to put it mildly) and working part-time to support myself. But I was so inspired to make a difference and help the people I share this planet with that I wrote my first book The Secret War: The Heavens Speak of the Battle in only two months! Now—it took four years to finally get it published, but that’s a WHOLE other story.

Upon publishing it and with it being a mixture of UFOs, aliens, Shadow People and the end of the world—I believe my parents politely mentioned that I COULD have used a pen name if I wanted to for the cover of my book. I responded that my father had no sons so I’d be sure to use my last and real name to its fullest so that my father’s name would live on truly!

Then my parents and I had a good laugh.

Having a sense of humor in the face of so many paranormally challenging odds, I feel, is a must. Even in the manner that I write, I prefer to share my stories as I would tell a friend of mine. I think it’s natural to get caught up into the moment of tremendous situations that calls all reality into question. But I think it’s also VERY human to laugh sometimes at inappropriate moments to break up the stress and help relay the impact of the real reality we live in.

Besides that, I truly cannot help myself, too :)

So yes, I started my journey on a paranormally oriented foot and somehow became the first author to write and literally name the now popular topic of Shadow People ( I guess I was right, there were others out there experiencing and needing to know more about what I was looking for that inspired me to write to begin with. Now the topic of Shadow People is what I’m most known for, but there is another side to my story.

Upon editing The Secret War while waiting for publishers to fully commit to put it out there, I held a skeptical perspective on another paranormally charged topic—holy encounters!

Holy encounters specifically meant to me to involve all these visions and encounters of Jesus being seen in everything from a tree trunk to a bowl of soup! I felt that people were seeing what they wanted to see, that Jesus was a historical figure that did His business and left. I suppose I kind of lumped in there all the talk of angels popping up at various moments, too, though I was more forgiving on that topic.

To put it bluntly, I was SO wrong it wasn’t even funny!

Being an already known person on Shadow People and aliens, I was suddenly met with the reality that I didn’t know all there was to know even in THIS world when I had my own very real holy encounters. I knew then that I would need to write more books than I thought, and that I would still use my real name!

My books Jesus Is No Joke: A True Story of an Unlikely Witness Who Saw Jesus and Picture Prayers: The Journey to Picture Perfect Prayers then came along.  Their titles kind of say it all; I was “unlikely” in one and on a “journey” in the other.

Some have asked me how I could speak of aliens in one book and then Jesus and angels in two others, wondering if I felt conflicted in some way. I have to say that none of this brought me confusion to my prior convictions about other worldly things or my upbringing in faith to have experienced what I did. If anything it brought it all together in my heart and soul to form clarity.

My goal has never been to blend beliefs and tell people “this is the way it is” and if anyone claims to have all the answers—don’t walk—run in the other direction!

All I can do is be “me” and share what I’ve come across in hopes that even a small morsel drops into a readers mouth and makes them hungry to find more answers on their own.

I’m a complicated, easy going, drastically silly, hopefully endearing, tactically aware being who hopes to tap dance out a melody of meaning to help out the people who dwell upon this blue marble in space with me. I’m giving it what I’ve got in this lifetime, and I hope to inspire others to do the same with whatever they’ve got to give to others, too.

So—get to it!
