Ted’s Missing Smile
One cloudy morning Ted awoke, and knew what the day would bring. His bed felt lumpy, his hair was frumpy, and his face had a look that was really grumpy. He tried to get dressed, but things were not right. He was missing a shoe, the one that was blue, and his favorite orange shirt seemed to be missing too.
So he went down to breakfast and was met by his mother who gave him some oatmeal and toast. The slippery oatmeal dripped down his chin, while wiping it off he bumped his shin, it was starting to seem that Ted couldn’t win. His mother smiled; he just frowned. He didn’t feel happy at all. How could he be glad, the day was bad, if it kept on like this he knew he’d feel sad.
Ted’s mother could tell something was wrong even though he said not a word. The kitten was hissing, Ted’s smile was missing, and his face didn’t budge when she started her kissing. She marched him upstairs and right back to bed, and told him to start again. He opened one eye, and let out a cry, the sun was now shining bright in the sky.
