Ths is a true story and I am sad to say that. Our world has turned for the worst but hopefully someone reading this will realized they can take action and help themselves.

It happened so fast I couldn’t understand what was happening.
It was like they were taking the life right out from underneath me.
The way the cop was forcing me out of the door, the words spoken by my mother, “remove her from this house. If she stays, I will beat her till she is dead.”
I don’t find that completely normal. Okay, let’s start from the beginning. My, name is Alyshia I am fourteen and I am happy the way I am living at this moment.  My life growing up wasn’t like other kids. I watched my parents get drunk every night, then fight. Sometimes just verbal arguments and others physical fights. I always tried sticking up for my mom because she was always the victim when they were seduced by alcohol. I just pushed or yelled at when I tried to separate them but when the pain came out the felt sorry.
My dad is crazy, he always seemed to “look for death” when he drank and that always scared me.
One night things went a little too far and my mom had to be rushed to the hospital. My dad was high that night and threw a light fixture at my mom’s face. The images were horrid.  I remember ever moment, every movement, and every detail. My mom ended up getting 50 stitches in her face some above her left eyebrow and on her lip under her nose. When you look closely you can see the exact shape of the box.

My mom was stupid. She stayed with him after that incident, they argued and struggled for two more years when she finally realized it’s not just her, he started hurting my brother. He threw his head threw a glass door and his head went through two sheets of glass. He also head butted him and my father thought nothing of it… he thought it was fine.
The only reason she stayed with him is because she was extremely self-conscious and thought she deserved the abuse from him. She kicked him out after those incidents with my brother and my dad went crazy, threatening to kill himself, shot his brains out on my mom’s lap, etc. My dad was very scary at this time, only when he found a girl, was he fine. Other than that he followed my mom everywhere, watched who she hung out with, tried to make her miserable.
When one day, December 13, 2010 she couldn’t handle what was thrown on her plate. I had just got suspended, Kevin my brother was late for school again and she had been drinking all night long. Kevin being late just ticked her off and she tried attacking him with a table leg, which had screws sticking out of it and then she also tried to attack him with a broom.
While all of this was happening, I was in the hot tub. I saw the cops show up and I knew something bad had happened. Kevin told me what happened and the cops said if anything else happens call us.
Thank god for the Cumberland Cops especially Officer Payson. Officer Payson stayed on the next street over because he knew our history because I was friends with his wife, and he just waited. I called the police station again because she was about to kill Kevin, so Officer Payson rushed over and settled things took me and my brother to school and called my grandmother, who I never talked to because I had no one else to call. She was going to pick us up.
Right before school ended I called her and she was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said “ I just saved your mother, there was an empty bottle of pills on the table and a beer in her hand. I tried my best did mouth to mouth and chest compressions till the ambulance came. I hope I saved her, I mean I got a pulse but I hope she isn’t brain dead.” That’s nothing a fourteen year old wants to hear.
After that I was scared I was afraid I was going to lose my mommy. After that everyone hated me because they thought it was my fault. I don’t know why but they did.
The nurses and doctors intubated her for 24 hours because she wanted to die, that was her plan and someone screwed it up so she was pissed. She was fighting the nurses, not letting them do anything.

She came 6 minutes from death and when she woke up she didn’t want to see anyone. I was lucky enough to see her and she couldn’t talk very well, but she had no brain damage thank god.

Ever since that day things have been different she is living her life to the fullest. She found a new boyfriend who loves her for her and she is happy. She has her kids but we can’t live at home just yet. During this situation we have had to deal with DCYF and we were placed in Foster Car, our Foster Care is with my grandparents so we don’t mind but we would like to go home soon.
As for my father he was put in jail for drinking and driving plus the cops were looking for him forever because of the things he has done.
Let’s just say this day with never be forgotten, just like 9/11. I hope nothing like this happens to anyone else, and if it does, call the cops I know it may be hard but just do it and don’t lie to protect your husband after, just like my mom. Thank you.
