A children's bedtime story

Once

Upon a time there was an ebon cat who watched two squirrels and several crows. She spied them from the window where she sat, and when they noticed her, Cat licked her toes as if she didn't have a single care. The crows taunted all day with raucous noise; and she watched them, slyly licking her hair. Then using all restraint, she kept her poise when squirrels scampered to bury their nuts in window boxes on the patio. She'd watch them for hours while they'd dig and futz with them.

Then two crows drove her batty--Faux gentlemen strutting by in Sunday best, talking about when Seagull was their guest for a banquet held back by the trash cans in the alley. What a feast they ate that night. After supper Seagull did a dance with his pointy cane and a black top hat. Kitty was just beside herself as they passed her window chatting noisily. Low growls gathered in her throat as if to say, "Get out of my yard now! You have to Go!" The two nonchalantly strolled out of her sight. She flicked the tip of her tail from side to side gently and then began to purr. Her back yard was no longer occupied by noisy interlopers trying to keep a little black cat from her beauty sleep.
