A Day in the Life of a Writer
By Jim Herman

Rated "G" by the Author.

It's tough being a writer!

It’s tough being a writer.

Today was a horrendous day on the golf course.  The weather was cool for June and the course, located on scenic Lake Lanier in Georgia, was beautiful but my score was not.  I should have spent this time writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

Following the disastrous round of golf, mowing the wet grass at home was painfully slow and very labor intensive.  I should have let the grass wait until next week and spent the time writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

Just like yesterday the methodical covering and uncovering the tennis courts while watching the mid afternoon TV coverage of The Wimbledon Open on ESPN 2 was disappointing.  I should have spent this time writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

Late afternoon naps give me a headache.  I should have spent the time writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

It’s time to prepare dinner, wash the pots, pans and dishes and lie down on the sofa to let my food digest. Ooooh!  Indigestion!  I should have spent the time writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

Since arising at 5:30 a.m. to play golf this morning, I’m exhausted and need to head to the bedroom for a good nights sleep.  It’s still early and I should be writing.

It’s tough being a writer.

Tomorrow I will write all day!
