First battle England’s centuries old enemy France
Lampard heads the ball into their French net
Rooney floored in the their penalty area
Beckham’s failure not pleasing majority of arena
Ninety minutes up still England lead by one
Added time being played for time gone
So many fouls round penalty area
One foul too many gives France a score
Now we have a draw
But Gerrard’s poor back pass is to short
Jones brings Frenchman to the floor
From the penalty spot they have no trouble to score
The French lead England by one score
The final whistle blows
France two England one the final score.

Second match with Switzerland promises more
Come on England we need to score
Owen's chip gives Rooney a chance
He puts the ball away with just a glace
Rooney’s second had its luck
He struck the ball well but it hit the post
The goalie dived it hit is head and went past the post
The third was as sweet as I can say
A cross to Gerrard who put it straight away
Switzerland fought bravely to the end
The winners England by three to nought.



Lisbon – 21st June 2004

Third match with Croatia a must win or draw
But on five minutes the Croatians score
Five minutes to half time Owens shot hits the keeper
After a scramble Scholes heads home a sitter
Just before the half time whistle blows
Rooney’s twenty yard shot hits the goal
Croatia one England two half time score
Second half and England would like more
Owens pass opens the door
Putting Rooney on for an easy score
Croatians one England three now we have a score
Coles fouls from the kick Croats head home a goal
Now the battle is on all want to score
But its Lampards shot that adds to the score
Final whistle blows Croatia two England four.

Portugal v England (Quarter Finals)

The two countries who have been allies for centuries
Now have to battle as if they were worst of enemies
The stadium full with more English than Portuguese
Kick off to a great roar this is not going to be a bore
Under three minutes Jones clears his area with a huge kick
Portuguese fail to clear Owen scores with a beautiful flick
Young Rooney damages ankle so he has no luck
Half time England just lead when Owen struck
Second half and England has trouble holding on
Eight minutes from full time Portugal score
Now we have a draw both trying for the final score
Campbell heads a goal then the ref disallows
The lucky Portuguese as the final whistle blows
Extra time to be played first Portugal score
Then England to make it a draw
Portugal two England two the final score
Penalty shoot out to decide the match
Beckham misses Portugal score
Owen scores Portugal score
Lampard scores Portugal miss
So that’s all square
