Ride the Dignes to Nice train calling at 18 stations and picking up school children.
Relaxing while looking at the French countryside in Provence this June on the most picturesque rail route between Dignes and Nice , a young boy with a bottle of half drunk water came through to our carriage.
"Monsieur, avez vous de Scotch?"
Well, I just shook my head and thought what is the next generation coming to? Here in rural France a school boy was obviously mixing his last drop of water with any passengers's hip flask of whisky. What a brass neck!
But to my surprise an elderly madame rummaged in her shopping bag and produced some Scotch! She handed it to the delighted school boy who sat down and used the Scotch to repair his torn exercise book!
Je m'excuse mes amis. En Ecosse nous avons Le Whisky et Le Sellotape! Mais pas de Scotch!
