What a writer vs a non-writer would say

A non-writer would say, “The car was a washed out red.”
A writer would say, “The car’s paint was a shade of red that I once saw on the east face of a bluff in the panted desert at sundown. The rocks about half way down were the color of ocher with flecks of rust streaming down the rock face. Dull but still showing some promise of the red they once were before being left to the elements for eons.”
