I wrote is many years ago for my Chap Book "The Red Man In Me" I see religion being used as an excuse for killing and plunder once again. Will we never learn?

Freedom At All Costs

A man is told his religion is wrong and he must change to survive, Heritage Lost.

To a new land he must flee to practice his religion in peace, Freedom at all cost.

Across the sea he sails to a new land where all are welcome, Freedom at all cost.

A man looks to the sea and sees strangers coming to his land.

They are taught the ways of this new land and welcomed, Freedom at all cost.

The strangers are given land and taught the ways to survive, Freedom at all cost.

The red man's ways are strange, his religion is wrong; he must change to survive, Heritage Lost.

The strangers talk of a book, of a vengeful and fearful Great Spirit. How strange.

The red man is told of the good book and how there is only one way to worship.

The Great Spirit made all things, the two legged, the four legged, winged and those that live in the sea.

G-d created all things, Man, Woman the animals to serve them and those that live in the sea.

A man lives in harmony with the creatures of the earth; they are brothers since they too were created by the Great Spirit.

They worship, as they were not allowed to do across the sea, Freedom at all cost.

A man prays to the Great Spirit for a successful hunt and to the spirit of his four legged brothers because he must take their life so he and his family may live, Freedom at all cost.

They hold a feast and thank G-d for providing the bounty before them and the red man for teaching them the ways of this New World.

A feast is held and the Great Spirit is thanked for the food and new friends.

The red man must be converted, if not his soul will be lost, Freedom at all cost.

A man is told his religion is wrong and he must change to survive. Heritage Lost

The red man is told of Pharaohs and famines, plagues and death because of a vengeful

G-d

How strange, a Great Spirit that kills that which he has made and must be feared

You must pray to the father and the son or you will be dammed to burn forever in the fires of hell the red man is told, Freedom at all cost

Our Great Spirit has taught us to love and take care of others who cannot take care of them selves. We do not fear the Great Spirit he provides for us and we thank him daily

Some are converted and those that are not are no longer welcomed at the table

Some have started to follow the stranger s ways and shun us because we have not, Heritage lost

More strangers come across the sea to worship as they wish and more land is needed for them and their kin, Freedom at all cost

A man looks to the sea and sees strangers coming to his land; he will give them room and teach them too. Our Great Spirit has taught us to love and take care of others who cannot take care of themselves

The red man must move to make room for us! He is a simple man who does not understand the word of G-d! Freedom at all cost.

A man is told he must leave his land to make room for the strangers, He is told his religion is wrong and must change to survive, Freedom at all cost, Heritage lost

We must build walls around our city to protect ourselves from the red man, Freedom at all cost

Our new friends have built walls to keep us from our land. Why? The Great Spirit has provided enough for both of us

Winter is coming again, we must gather all we can to survive, kill all the animals you find we must have meat for the winter

The strangers have taken more than they need and will not share. The four legged, the winged and the brothers in the sea have fled. Where will we find food for our families?

We cannot share our food with the heathens, they must move on to other lands

We must leave the land of our fathers to find food and shelter. The people we have helped have taken more than they need and have turned their back on us, for them it is Freedom at all cost for us Heritage Lost

Why will they not leave? Do they not see they are not welcome here any longer!

The strangers say they "Own the land" and we must leave. How can one own the land? One cannot own the land any more than one can own the air he holds in his hand. The Great Spirit has given the land for all his people to use. We will not leave

the land that our father and our father S father have walked ,upon. Freedom at all cost

We must fight to keep our land or convert the heathens in the name of G-d, Freedom at all cost!

We must stand and fight for our way of life for if not our heritage will be lost, Freedom at all cost

War was fought and the strangers kept coming across the sea. Soon there was no more room for the strangers and they moved west. Along the way they tried to convert the red man, they cheated him out of his land with promises that were not kept.

Where he refused to leave he was killed, his lodgings burned down, crops burned and his source of food killed off. Children were removed from parents and raised as Christians. The red man was a heathen and did not believe in G-d. What was done was done in the Name of G-d! Freedom at all cost!

The Great Spirit created the red man and the White man to look different. Didn't it make sense to the White man that maybe the Great Spirit gave us different ways to worship him? The White man says there is only one way to worship the Great Spirit. But yet they lie, cheat and do not look after their fellow man as both their and our Great Spirit says we must. We learned the White man s religion. We learned to lie and cheat and to not look after our fellow man. We had to change to survive, Freedom at all cost. The cost was Heritage lost.

Amen! You speak with wisdom and there are so many that need to hear... too bad they are deaf when the truth is spoken. God bless those who love life and are anxious to learn what is good at every opportUNITY... be at peace with one another, share with each other and respect all.

Very well said. When you think of all the people killed in the names of different religions, it's easy to understand why a separation of church and state was created in the first place. I'm just now reading about all the poor souls burned as 'heretics' or 'witches', etc. When will we ever learn is right...and never say it can't happen again.

Jake,

A deeply moving, thought provoking write; every word is very well written. Freedom isn't free...it comes with a price that's sometimes too great to pay. Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
