Beautiful Green

Earth...every day

Watching the hawks and spotted eagles track and dive on their prey in the dew-ridden spring fields, my eye was drawn below the level of the road to a small pool of water where the sun was glinting off the deep green feathers of a male mallard duck. I watched that color shining in the sun and found myself at a loss to describe the exact tone. It shimmered somewhat gold, and this luminescent green...then he took off, airborne. And as he flew over the new grass, I realized his green was just that: earth green. Green like the grasses that will hide his brood and green like the earth that gave birth to us all. Green...I will never see the color the same again; beautiful duck; beautiful green.

Don't you just love these kinds of moments - they are like quiet, heart-epiphanies. I understand completely. You've captured it beautifully.
