Playing with words

The moon from its place in the heavens looked down upon the sea of stars. How beautiful they appeared as they shone with iridescent glee. Unable to contain the excitement that stirred within, he dove headlong into the wondrous sight.
“Oh how grand!” thought the moon. With a whimsical swagger he walked amongst the stars. Playfully they surrounded him, wrapping him in a loving embrace. Swirling and twirling upwards an on, like a free flying jitterbug they held his attention.
Such happiness came upon the moon. As he watched he realized the stars were performing an enchanting and intricate dance. “Oh to join them and dance with the heavens” he thought to himself. “Would I who am not of the same dare to try?” “Would they allow me to fulfill my heart’s desire?”
Approaching now with skittishness of a child, the moon dared to dream. He bowed to the stars and held out his hand. In the blink of an eye it all began. The dance to end all dances began and the two were entwined in the gloriousness of angels.
For what seemed like hours the dance played out. Never before had the moon felt such happiness. For he who sat among but not with the stars, was now part of it all. Round and round went the moon, dancing like that swan of tale. His face was a glow and lit the evening sky in a soothing shimmer. Lost in it all was he, for nothing could compare.
It was then though that the hammer fell for his glow had turned to a deep crimson. The stars themselves wrapped around him and shielded his eyes as to hide the awful truth. As he pushed them away it was then he found out.
For it was his impending death that caused his rich amber to frightfully tone the once friendly sky. Thoughts ran fast and burned their prints ever so harshly upon his mind. Before he could react or think, his light faded and the moon fell from the heavens. Falling into an endless blackness, he soon lost sight of it all. Just as the veil of life was closing upon his weary soul, he was allowed one final vision. It then he saw the final dance as he was replaced.
