A Wives Tale: You've Been Fingered and God Covered Earth with a Blue Blanket
A Western fable by Sage Sweetwater
....All entrances to town had been blocked. All those arrived who were going to arrive. There were four roads. His wife, at the end of her rope knew he had made the perfect fool of himself. She no longer fawned around the saloon. She had become gaunt and hard featured. Her eyes were tired, but what woman could sleep knowing her husband was the hideous prospect of a fool whether that miserable night might be his last.
....Outdoor Western theatre built the props; gallows blowing like bloody ragdolls. Gone would soon be his whiskey-soaked days. In the light of fading afternoon, the sky roiled dark gray, the crows swarmed.
....Sunrise the next morning, upon the ground layed a blue blanket, the color of the sky where heaven's senior wing covered earth. And to think he had even a remote chance to repel 7,000 intelligent opponents. Gay colors were plainly to be seen.
