Jerry Peterson looked up from his desk. "Come on, Dan, lighten up. The wackos are always out there, crime is up every month of the year, and the weather's always lousy in New York City. Don't blame it on Christmas."

"Yeah, yeah." Dan's scowl looked as frosty as the ice covering the outside of the precinct windows. "Let's quit shootin' the bull. Time to get out there and follow up some leads. What do you have on that missing person, Sandy Kloss?"
