Did you know that it took five years to train a Roman soldier? He was trained to act on a commandment, and not on reaction. It took a lot of nerve to just stand there and see your enemy coming at you. It took a lot of discipline to wait on your commander for the proper orders to fight. It took a lot of discipline on the part of the soldiers to stand their ground.
Before we became Christians we all came from different way of life. Some of us were at our worst end, and didn’t know where to turn. Some of us like the apostle Paul were drawn In by God. Some of us grew up in the church knowing Christ. It makes no difference how we came in to the kingdom of God.
We exchanged the service of Satan for the service of God. We became oneness with Christ in his death and life. When we look up the word "Bondservant" in the dictionary it says 1. A person obligated to services without wages 2. A slave or serf.
However the dictionary cannot and does not express the meaning of "A Bondservant Of Jesus!" for that position in Christ is a far different thing and there are really very few today who call themselves Christians who really understand it's true meaning because most who call themselves Christians have never been willing to lay it all down at the foot of the Cross and enter into a position of total service to Christ Jesus the SON Of The Living God as... HIS Bondservant!
Paul was a bondservant of Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:1 (NKJV) 1Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God
As Christians we need to act only on God’s commandments and not by our needs or wants. There must be a complete union between Christ and those who believe on Him. What a slave does is absolutely determine by the master that he serves. We had the choice to choose our master, so once we made the choice we must be obedient.
What are fruitless branches? fruitless branches are all those who have a mere superficial, external adherence to the True Vine (Jesus Christ). To be without fruit signifies either: (1) a false follower or (2) a useless disciple. The branch that has no fruit has no life, because it has no real union, any real union, there will be some life, and if there be any life, there will be some fruit; abiding in Christ is the condition for fruitbearing; it is also the condition for effectual prayer.
Our only opportunity of bearing any fruit worthy of our natures and of God’s purpose concerning us is by vital union with Jesus Christ. Open your hearts to Christ and let His life and His Spirit come into you, and then you will have ‘your fruit unto holiness, and in the end everlasting life.’
God hears our prayers before we even speak.
He knows our wants and our needs, and just because we call ourselves Christians doesn’t mean that we have a guaranteed that God will answer our prayers, or we will receive his blessings. It is only by abiding in Christ that we get a guarantee that our prayers will be heard.
