a conversation between God and Adam
Quite some time ago, one of my nieces asked me, "How old are you?"
I said:
As old as Adam, nearly. Had to be.
Soon after He created Adam, God noticed him moping about. So He said, "What's with the woeful face, my friend?"
And Adam said: "Well, you know, Lord, sometimes I feel so down...."
And God said: "I can see that. Though I love you dearly -- like my own son, really -- it's also true , I have a universe to run. It's a big job!"
Thereon Adam interjected: "That's so, but Heaven knows, you're The Guy to do it!"
"Well," continued the Lord, "when I'm off painting the autumn leaves, or maybe making sure the waves have plenty of foam, I can see where you might sometimes feel a little down. Like Me, before I made you."
So they put their heads together, and Ta Da! came up with me!
My niece said, "That's a joke, right?"
I said: "Believe it or not, that's exactly how it happened."
