This is part of a series...
Home, at last.
He grabs a piece of paper
Scribbles ‘Important Things to Remember’
At the top.
And then underneath writes,
‘Must have benefits!’
On another sheet he writes
‘My Plan’.
He stops to ponder…
A phased approach is best, he decides
Start something part-time--
On the side—
That way I have the
Best of both worlds…
But this two-pronged existence
Cannot last more than 6 months.
He’ll die if he has to spend
Another year
In another cubicle
In corporate America…
He makes himself a cup of soup,
Grabs a beer,
And turns on the computer.
‘No time for slacking,’ he says aloud.
10 p.m.
The phone rings--
It’s Julia.
He’s a bit annoyed by her call
Since he just narrowed his choices
For a new career down to two—
An Internet business
Or becoming a chef.
Both would get him out
Of a cubicle.
But that can wait until later.
Julia’s just said something
That caught his attention.
‘Dinner?’ he says.
‘At your place tomorrow?’
‘Yes,’ she says.
‘I’m a fairly good cook.’
‘Sure.’

In a way I can soo associate with this character for after my forced early retirement on health reasons, it leaves me few options, I can only work so many hours because of health, and can only make so much money because of pensions...still I want to do somthing and it is amazing how inventive you get and how all offers no matter how bizarre become possibilities. Anyway I digress but a good new edition to this continuing saga.

| Seems he had his choice made for him, but I wonder if he'll leave his cubicle. Must wait I suppose. Victor |
