Balalaika, balalaika, then and now
By Ally I. Hauptmann-Gurski
Saturday, May 16, 2009
Rated "G" by the Author.
A quasi memoir by Dieter Hauptmann and Ally Hauptmann-Gurski. Composed in magazine style with many images, it tells how Russian music became their life, although they are not Russians. Dieter is a balalaika player and builder in Adelaide, South Australia. Ally was and is his support engine, but has recently returned to writing with her historical novel LA PLEVITSKAYA, which describes the life of the last Tsar's favourite singer Nadezhda Plevitskaya.
This quasi memoir is not written as a piece of literature, but in a more personal style, as if they were telling you their stories at the kitchen table.
