“No,” said Judy adamantly. “I don’t want you to turn off the road!”
“It’s just for a kiss or two. Don’t worry, there’s no danger,” Rodney said.
The two Newnan, Georgia, teens dated off and on and that night were on their way home from a ColdPlay concert. Rodney drove.
“I’ll call my dad if you won’t listen. He’ll come get me.”
“You can’t call him if I don’t let you. I'm stronger, you know,” Rodney threatened.
“I can’t believe this!” Judy stammered. “You’ve done a complete about-face. I’ve never seen you like this. It’s crazy!”
Rodney turned off the blacktop onto a dirt road that had tall trees on both sides of it.
“I’ll open this door and jump!” Judy warned.
“That’s okay. Save me effort,” Rodney laughed.
But Judy didn’t jump. She was too afraid. Soon, Rodney stopped the car.
“Okay. You can get out,” he told Judy.
“What do you mean, get out?” she asked.
“Of the car. You can get out of the damn car! Didn't you want to?” Rodney shouted.
“You’re insane!” Judy said. “It’s dark. Take me home immediately!”
“Get your ass out of my car. Now!” Rodney continued. “You said yourself your dad will come get you. So, let him.”
Now Judy was really afraid. What she saw in Rodney’s eyes she’d never forget. Ever. He was a Jekyll and Hyde if anything. She opened the car door slowly and got out, not believing any second of what was happening. She’d barely gotten out when Rodney pressed the gas pedal firmly and the car sped ahead.
“Fucking bitch,” Rodney said to himself as he looked in the rearview mirror to see Judy standing there paralyzed. “One more fucking bitch in this world.”
