a thugs life

(The Sermon Dreamer)
YO! What up, my name is Marques; my dawgs that are close to me call me MJ. Iím down wití the Bloods, thatís right Iím a gangbanger. You may have heard of us, and then maybe you have not. I donít care. Once while a couple of my dogs and I were hangin' out thuggin' and gangbangin' late one night, a voice said to me out of nowhere " MJ, go home" I looked but there was no one there 'cept my homies. So I did the usual, I ignored it. Suddenly! The whip (car) that we were rolling in seemed to take on a mind of its own and started acting very strange. It seemed as if the only direction that it would go in was in the direction of my crib (house). We really became frightened. But what the heck gangsters donít get scared.
"Yo dog take me home 'cause somethin' aint right" I hollowed out to my boys. "I'm feeliní you" Ty said, sounding as frightened as I was. "Yo dog what's happening?Ē Hector shouted out. "I don't know but take me to the crib too, right now dog!" shouted Mario. Not long after MJ walked through his front door he fell fast asleep, and as quick as a wink was having the strangest dream he'd ever had in his life.
In his dream he found himself telling his friends that now that man is no longer satisfied with the way life was in the beginning of modernization, and now that the poor, elderly, and less fortunate among us are made to feel by some that there's no place on God's earth for them anymore, and since God's original way for man to worship Him, love one another, and live is no longer the only way.
And seeing that the worth of all people is no longer important to all of God's children, and war, disease, famine, destruction, idolatry, genocide and world hunger that was created by man's greed, lust, and thirst seems to be destroying the very world that God created and so loved he gave his precious Son, I guest it's safe to say, "Yo dogs get ready, cause the wrath of God is quickly coming." It's a devil's delight I say; Satan is delighted that he is winning the battle of winning souls it seems. Since the beginning of the world he's been on a mission of taking over and destroying everything that God stood for.
Now with the help of so many contemporary sinners, his mission has become so much easier. Think about it, Satan has made fools out of many of us and is kickin' back smiling saying to himself "yeah, look at'em." He's fooled some of us into taking God out of everything that was meant to be Godly. Case in point, the way we praise our Lord with music, and the way we worship Him when we pray to Him.
There was a time when it was very easy to distinguish the type of music that exclusively worshipped God from music that glorified Satan. In the good old days, just plain good old foot stomping and hand clapping was good enough for God, and most people. There was never a need to "tear the roof off the sucker, raise the roof, or to turn this mother out."
There was never a need to do the "moon walk" down the isles of the church to get God's attention, and I don't believe God like the fact that in His name there are those who encourages saints to rush out on the church floors to shake it, in the same breathe that some of the Satan worshipers of old did. God didn't require the type of praying that causes a whole church full of folk to roll around on the floor. He didn't require that a pastor's entire sermon be spent telling a congregation about their faults, and not giving them the word, or encouraging them with ways of correcting their faults.
It is not a requirement of God that the little old church out on the hill in the country, change and become like many of the big over crowded money hungry churches in the city, only for the sake of contemporary. It appears that every church and every fiery pastor and congregation on television appears to have gone the contemporary way.
I don't believe God requires all that to make Him happy. I don't believe He required it back in the Bible days, nor do I believe that He requires it now. Our precious Lord appreciates it when we worship him in sprit and in truth, and with Christian music
and dances in His name.
Not beats or dances that were once used and are still being used to glorify the devil. It's hard for me to believe that He will allow man to praise Him like that much longer. I tell you there's gonna be a major showdown soon and very soon because there are too many so-called saints fully committed to tempting and destroying the souls of fully committed genuine saints. There should always be a separation of God and the devil and it should never be hard to figure out which is which. The way things are going I believe we will see a "hip-hop" Jesus on the horizon soon.
Oh how "disrespectful to God" that will be. But for the sake of man's lust to be part of "the hip society plague" that is fast becoming a quilt over the entire nation, I can see it coming. While I'm on the subject of man's disrespect for God, let's look at that briefly. In the bible days after God sent Moses into Egypt to deliver His people out of bondage, according to the bible there were much joy, jubilation and worship among the children of Israel. The Israelites had a glorious relationship with God that I imagine was envied by other nations throughout the world.
But during the course of over four hundred years much of that praise and worship would turn into disrespect and many of the children of Israel would eventually lose all respect for Moses, their deliverer, and mock the Lord, the Savior, while worshipping idles. But because of their disrespect for God many of the people eventually perished. The similarity of that bible story is a mirror image of that of my people.
A nation of people that were in bondage for four hundred years, and are still in bondage in many ways today. Enslaved in the past by man, only to satisfy his greed and lust for power. Today some of us are enslaved by our mind and unwise expectations and belief that just because God's name is mentioned in some of the sins we commit, He's sittin' back chillin' saying "it's all right," even when it's wrong.
But since the beginning of black people's journey above the Underground Railroad, and after nearly three decades into the twentieth century, God sent forth a dreamer, a deliverer to set black people totally free, and though the journey was extremely long, it was very clear that God was always near. He promised us that wherever two or three are gathered in his name, He would be in the midst. He promised He'll never leave us, and He never has.
However, like Moses before him, our dreamer/deliverer, during the course of this long and sometime unpleasant journey toward freedom received his "P.I.H." degree, (permission into heaven) and flew away to be with all the other saints who have gone on to rich reward. But oh how noticeable the exit of respect for God my people once had for Him during the freedom days that are no more. Now, it has become almost a question of who's going to save us. If we turn our back on God completely, we will surely perish. We are becoming more and more like the lost children of Israel, and their worship of the golden calf.
They made the symbol of an animal the god in whom they chose to worship. It was all about beauty and disrespect. After all that the Lord brought them through, how could they turn their backs on Him? And expect to prosper. God didn't like that, and His wrath was felt mightily. I believe that God is fed up with all the mess that's going on in the world today, and is showing His displeasure in many ways, now more than ever.
I strongly believe that the worst is yet to come, and is coming swiftly and very quickly. Will you be ready? There is much disrespect of the Almighty going on in the world today because too many of us are representing ourselves when we should be representing God.
It is clear that much of today's so-called sacred music is not representing God. It's giving praises to the devil in God's name because it sounds good, and it makes us look good. And it also gives us an excuse to shake our rumps to the funk. Our songs of praises are coming in all shapes forms and fashion today. There is hip-hop gospel, rhythm and blues gospel, rap-gospel, Christian, and so much more.
In many of today's so-called worship and praise songs the words have been changed to make them more appealing to God, and to make it seem right. However, many of them have the same flavor as that of the average devil worship song, and they're all being performed in Christ precious holy name. Then, the right Rev. "Well respected big time pastor" tells the world that it's okay, because it's only a vehicle to bring more young people to Christ. Well, I believe a comment like that confuses some people. Especially those who are easily led astray.
I don't believe that it's right. In many of our churches, it's like "its show time at my Father's house" I say. Therefore, it's not about God anymore it's all about Satan, and us, think about it. But who am I to say what's wrong or right with the world today? Just a concerned thug child of God, that's all that I am, and not to exclude myself because we've all come short of God's glory at some time are another. However, give me that old time religion because it has always seemed to be good enough for so many, and I believe that it can be good enough for me.
At times when I find myself being tempted to represent myself more than I do God, I think of all that He has done for me, and all that He has brought me through. But mostly, I realize that He is Lord, the one and only God who deserves the ultimate praise. I pray that He give me the strength to abide and dwell in Him as He does in me because I really need him in my life, and I want to be able to go out and tell all my friends just how much they need Him in their lives. Because one day I believe that God is going to stand up and look His world over one final time, as He did in the days of Noah, and say "OKAY THAT'S IT." "Again, will you be ready dog? I will!"
But until then, the ultimate prayer that I submit to the Almighty and Powerful God while I still can is that He continues to be merciful and gracious towards the earth, and all that He created upon it. I pray that He continue to bless mankind in our sinfulness and disrespect towards Him that we will get better, and all men will learn to love one another and live together in this world without war the way Father God planned it. As it was meant to be. I believe that is the Masters plan.

It was very early in the morning when MJ woke up, and to his amazement he did something he'd never done before; he got on his knees and prayed. When he told his mother what he'd dreamed she was very touched and happy. "It's your calling child, The Lord is calling you to preach,Ē she shouted out with joy. "Lord! My baby, a preacher!" MJ didn't realize it right away, but God had delivered him out of bondage, out of the streets. Now it was his responsibility to deliver his homies.
