Magic Garland of The Snake Kingdom

Screen Play by GE.Koshi

Homakundam is burning with huge flames. Behind it sits The Rajaguru. He is wearing a saffron colored robe which covers him from shoulders to toe. He is slightly aged and has a long beard. His eyes are very red. His face is concentrated in the homa, which burns in front of him.

He pours ghee in the flames and utter mantras…

Rajaguru :

His eyes are fixed on the flames. He keeps looking into it. Then the minister, Rudhrakethu comes, with his footsteps making loud noise. Rajaguru looks at rudhrakethu and says

Welcome minister

Rudhrakethu shouts in an angered and bitterer voice

Nooo… don’t call me like that…I’m not a minister and I don’t want to be a minister…I’m not rudhrakethu and I am not son of my father…haaaa…

Why do you torture yourself?

Then what you expect me to do? Hmmm… tomorrow she will be queen… then…

Rajaguru still maintaining his polite voice

You know better than that…why are you shouting…from tomorrow onwards you will be the king of this kingdom…

After being silent for few moments rudhrakethu asks

Will our plan work?

How can it fail?(after a pause) It all depends on you…
get hold of the magic garland and then you are the king…

Rudhrakethu with greedy eyes shouts

Yes…tomorrow I will be the king…

Cut to

Minister, commander and all the important persons are seated in their chairs. The king is at the head in his throne. The arrangement is in a half circle way. Center of it the rajaguru is busy with his pooja. All the citizens of the snake world are standing at the other end.

Servants bring Nagarani. She is beautiful. Rajaguru makes her to sit before the deepam beside him and continues with the pooja. Nagarani sits there with a little tension and a lot of emotion. Everybody is watching her.

The rajaguru turns and nods at the king. The king gets up from the thrown and comes towards the rajaguru. The minister and the commander follow him. The king sits besides in the other side of the rajaguru.

The rajaguru turns and looks into the eyes of the king and nods. With out speaking the king turns, closes his eyes and prays to the god. Then he opens his eyes looks around at everybody around the room and at nagarani. She bows her head. Then the king takes the crown from his head and places it in the golden plate, which is in front of the deepam.
Now the rajaguru says mantras in a loud voice. Everybody stays in heads down position.

Then at last rajaguru finishes his mantras and looks at the king and nods. The king gets up followed by rajaguru and nagarani. The king and the rajaguru walk nagarani to the thrown. The rajaguru takes the golden plate, on which the crown is placed, with him.

The king makes nagarani to sit on the thrown. Rajaguru extends the plate towards the king. The king takes the crown from it and places it on the head of the nagarani.

Everybody shouts:
jai our king! Long live our nagarani.

After the shouts fade, the rajaguru looks at the king. The king nods his head. The rajaguru starts to walk. The king follows him, turning to nagarani and minister, gestures them to follow him.
They follow him. Everybody else fall on the floor and prays.

The four of them stand in front of the big room. It’s made of gold. The rajaguru opens the door and the four of them go inside.

Cut to

Once inside the room, the rajaguru closes the door. Inside the room there are lot of statues of kings. Nagarani sees them in awed silence.

Rajaguru makes nagarani to sit in the only chair in the room. The king takes the magic garland from his neck and holds it in his hand then starts to talk in a low voice to nagarani

King :
My child, hereafter you will be the queen of this snake kingdom, this is the magic garland. It’s given by the god to our ancestors. It’s the most powerful in our kingdom. Once it becomes yours, you are the powerful person in our land. No power exceeds this. No body can win over you. But you should never remove this from your body. Now I give this to you and I want you to promise that you should use this only for the welfare of our kingdom and save our people from the enemy. Will you?

The nagarani makes the promise.
Yes , dad

Then the king makes a step towards nagarani to put the garland in her neck. Then suddenly the rajaguru takes his sword and attacks the king shouting at rudurakethu

Grab the garland…

Rudhrakethu leaps towards the garland, which is in the king’s hand. But at the same moment, the commander comes in and stops him

In montage:
A fierce fight goes between the king’s side and rudhrakethu’s side. In the end rudhrakethu and the rajaguru are captured. The king comes before them. His face is red with rage. He throws his hand towards rudrakethu and cursing, hits both of them with the garland. With that hit, rudrakethu and the rajaguru take up in the air

A voice over on the montage shots says
Voice over:
The king Bhusan of the snake kingdom decided to make his daughter nagarani as the next queen of the kingdom by giving her the most powerful magic garland, as he has no son to succeed him. But the minister wanted to take over the kingdom. The rajaguru who doesn’t like the nagarani also supports him. And they plan to grab the magic garland before the nagarani gets it during the crowning ceremony because that is the easiest way to get it, as no body will be around them to stop them. But now, the commander spoiled their plan.
Dissolve to

Rudrakethu and the rajaguru are caught. They are waiting before the king for the verdict. The king curses them to be out of the kingdom forever with the magic garland in his hand. Rudrakethu and rajaguru go flying.

Cut to

Rudrakethu and rajaguru came flying and fall on a muddy place and rolls. Then comes to a stop. They look at each other. Rajaguru is badly wounded. Rudhrakethu spits on the face of the rajaguru. Wiping his face with his hands the rajaguru says
Its your fault

Without saying anything rudhrakethu buries his face in the mud. He stays like that for few moments and slowly raises his head towards rajaguru

Is there any way to get the kingdom?

Rajaguru slowly shakes his head

No. No way expect getting the magic garland.
But I can’t go into the kingdom
No. you cant. But there may be somebody

Rudhrakethu with wild greediness

Is there anybody?

Rajaguru stays calm for sometime and then says
At present you are the only one who has the planetary support to take the garland from the king’s family. That’s why I supported you. But you have failed. (after a pause) in future somebody may come…

Who will come?
I don’t know. Some body who will born on the exact moment when all the planets comes in a straight line on a full moon day may be able to take it.
When will it happen?
I don’t know

Rudhrakethu thinks for a moment and asks

How can I find him?
You don’t have to find him. The fate will bring him to you.
How will I know him?
You will know once he sets his foot on this kingdom…

On saying this, rajaguru dies.

Again rudhrakethu buries his face in the mud and yells,

Rudhrakethu :
That’s my kingdom. But I will come back. I will get it back even if takes a 1000 years…I will wait…wait.

Rudhrakethu’s angered face Dissolve to black screen
