Whether truth or fiction who is to say? This is my story; therefore, it is!
You may hold truths in your mind and think of it as truth and the way it has always been. But I am here to tell you… No, no, and no again, it wasn’t always what it appears to be now. Way back when time had no hands, skies knew not rain, and serpents were beautiful winged creatures that soothed you through your very soul, as unspoken languid tones of sounds that thrilled while soothed you to your very being came, as it flew heralding Infinite Love. That is why he was chosen. Chosen for what you ask? Well now, just sit back a while and let me tell you the real truth of it all. Not these tales that are told as truth but the real truth of the beautiful flying serpents of auld.
If you could imagine sound in slow motion, then you can allow your imagination to repeat for you the slow moving sounds that woooooosh, wooooosh, wooooosh from floating strokes of wings, first slowly mounting upward with sounds of air being slowly sliced, whooooosh, then again in a downward slow motion, wings pushing down massive amounts of air, whoooooosh over and over again as it flew overhead. All of this beauty of accomplished wings carrying further beauty through the heavens…a creature of beauty beyond words, with scales of metallic colored silvers on highly polished metal, metal blues as soft as a robin's egg mixed with shiny greens that alluded to subterranean colors only achieved by refracted light deep when beheld within deep crevaces of iced glaciers. A winged beauty of armored grace. .. the serpent. Majestic wings created just for one purpose alone…carrying its Maker's creation to and fro the land to spread good tidings and the Love of One that was unconditional. Yes, a deeper Love than any mortal heart could contain and still be able to live for the need of bursting from sheer delight of being loved that much.
Now back in that same era, a time in which legends were more than made but legends that were actually lived, another miraculous bit of creation was commanded by Our Captain. Yes, this miracle was a wee bit of land that was made above all the rest on the third mass from the sun …a land beyond lands …in fact, so special it was that a singular name was placed upon it like a robe is placed on a well loved king… the actual name has been lost through time but the land's existence is still known by the trail of beauty left behind. A beauty in beholding which eludes to this unknown name but one cannot quite bring up as it is of the auld tongue long forgotten… a name that captured a blend of meanings… spiritual reality decked in gold yet mingled with sparkling gems of emerald and a glistening in her air, her earth and her water… that emanated purity to a degree that is unknown and unfathomable in these days later when much has faded. Yes, the clearest most pristine day of these times in which we live would look like a gray garment in comparison to her majesty’s cloak.
Ah, but one mistake, a terrible and grave mistake for sure was contemptuously made one day. A mistake that was irrevocable, irreverent, and committed with selfish gain in mind by a disloyal subject of Infinite Love. This mistake broke the hearts of many, those present, and those not yet born and most importantly broke the Heart of the One who created it all in His Infinite Love and Wisdom. There came along a fallen beauty who’s heart waxed cold against its Maker. And as he came, his chosen vessel to use in his rebellion against his Maker, was the Maker’s flying serpentine beauty. This was the fallen one’s attempt to separate the Maker from His hearts desire and His consummate Love for the man and woman He created that lived within His garden.
Yes, there were many flying serpents in the lands in those days… flying in flocks from place to place to herald that Infinite Love. But, as fate would have it, one of the winged serpents that lived in the Maker’s garden was used as the vessel of evil to accuse Infinite Love as being notoriously selfish and desirous of self exultation. This flyer brought a curse upon them all. By the winged beauty allowing himself to be used by the fallen one, it brought a curse upon all of like kind. Their wings disappeared, their beauty faded, and from that time forward the beautiful creatures became ugly scaly venomous creatures that had to crawl upon their bellies in the dust of the earth. Since the wings were gone they were doomed to live in one land, the one land in whichever land they found themselves when the curse rained down upon them….and yes, some were even in the land of emerald gems and purity.
You see the Maker had many plans to never allow His heart’s desire to be lost from Himself. He would not allow this fallen one in his craftiest schemes the ability to separate nor bring doom on the love of His life. So, He continued that plan by making every way possible for His loved ones to be with Him still for all eternity and always making a way to bring His Infinite Love to the rescue of man whom He loved with all of His Heart. He had a plan and that plan included a special messenger who was born one fine day and was given the name Padraig. He dwelt in the lands nearby and not far off from Infinite Love’s special land of emerald gems and purity. When Padraig was born and only a mere babe, the plan was in place, he was born especially for this task…the task that the Maker developed years before...a plan to rectify and halt the fallen ones attempts to separate Him from His much loved people.
This was because, you see, that the Maker is such as He knows all things, therefore, nothing surprises Him in the least. He has a plan for every disaster and for all things that attempt to thwart the bestowing of His Love to all who are ever born. His perfect will and Love is predestined to always win out.
So now, back to this babe born for Love’s plan. Some say he was mistakenly carried off and made a slave in the land of emerald gems….but unknown to many it was always that Infinite Love had a plan even for this…you see, the babe grew and by the gentle age of sixteen years was carried off to the land of emeralds and purity but this too was in the Maker's plan... this was done in order to allow Padraig to live in such a closeness with the land and people that he would fall in love with both.
Yes, and this he did… he fell as deeply in love as love can reach... and we know that depth is higher than any star is far, and wider than any ocean spans. In time, Padraig's main and focused goal became his desire to restore this special land and this special people to the knowledge of Infinite Love Who rested not , night nor day, and worked in behalf of this special people in the land of emeralds...
Yes, Padraig's love was used by the Maker to allow a counter to the effects wrought by that dreaded old fallen one and that which also caused beauty to lose its wings, and those wingless cursed ones, stranded when wings fell, since they were no longer able to fly away over the seas to other lands.
Alas, Infinite Love used Padraig, and a saint he was, and it was he who was used against these wingless venomous relatives of the winged serpent traitor of Infinite Love.
Legend has it that Padraig grabbed these remnant relatives that were reminders of the attempt to lose Infinite Love and Padraig threw them off of the cliff’s and down to their death in the tumultuous ocean below. And to this day, some know that this is how hurling got its start...and even up to now as the game is played this very day...invented by none other than Padraig himself.
So, from now on as you watch or engage in a hurling contest, you can envision Padraig throwing the cursed wingless serpents off the cliffs edge and now will know why they could not fly back and were forever barred from living in Infinite Love's special land of emerald gems and purity...and now you know how the Wings of Infinite Love flew to the rescue of man. The End
