A short story about a woman who tries to secure love, romance and commitment all in a weekend. She then discovers love begins with loving yourself.

Joyce sat at her desk thumbling through her journal.  She began writing some things that had previously happened. "In two days  Stanley, and I will be sharing the weekend together, I hope this will make things better; our realtionship has suffered so much."

She continued to go deeper into her thoughts reflecting on a moment in time when she first met Stanley at church.  He walked over to her.

"Hello how are you?"  said Stanley.

"I'm fine," said Joyce.

Stanley was a handsome well-groomed short light brown skin gentleman .  "My name is Stanley." He extended his hand to Joyce.

She was a medium brown complexion.  "It's nice to meet you," replied Joyce.

She returned his handshake.

" I've seen you around here but, today you radiate like a angel."

"Oh I see," said Joyce.  "Wow even the church boys have a pick-up line." How interesting she thought.  Stanley continued to convince Joyce about the church ministry.

"Joyce we have a prison ministry, here at the church and I would like to share more information with you.  It would be an honor if you participated.  I tell you what, I'll give you a card."

"Oh that would be great," said Joyce.

"I'll call you soon," said Stanley.

Returning to the present, Joyce thought, wow that was the beginning of our realtionship.  She was yet deeply in her thoughts she didn't hear the telephone ringing.

"Hello Joyce this is Stanley."

"Hi Stanley."

"Honey I was checking to see if our plans for the weekend were confirmed."

"Yes our plans are ok.  I decided instead of going out of town we would be lodging in the city."

"Splendid," said Stanley.

"You're going to love the Inn Stanley."

"Joyce, you're creative, beautiful, classy and sexy.  So I know our suite is fabulous."

"Yes Stanley tne Inn is quite lovely.  It has a fireplace,Jacuzzi, a swimming pool and many extras."

"Baby, it sounds awesome."

"The wheather, shold be excellent."

"I agree.  Ok Joyce, I'll meet you at the Inn at three o'clock."

"I can't wait."

"Good-bye Stanley." Hanging up the telephone.  Joyce realized tomorrow would be the big day! "I better get busy preparing," said Joyce.

It was now one-thirty in the afternoon.  The noonday heat was warm overall it was a lovely summer day.  I yet need to purchase groceries thought Joyce to herself. The grocery store was nearby.  It had everything.

Willowlake was a beautiful city.  It had many trees that stood on large acres of land and a lake with flowing water and glorious landscapes.  A shopping mall was recently built; an attracted many shoppers.

Joyce loved shopping at the mall.  Her favorite store was the Health Seed. Suddenly she needed to hurray and complete her shopping.  It was almost time to meet Stanley.

Joyce arrived at the Inn.  I must race around the unit to create a romantic atmosphere.  I'll begin by draping the fireplace with beautiful floral garland.  Also all of the roses shall be displayed in beautiful crystal vases.  I'll light red, pink and lavendar candles to grace each room.  This is just marvelous, thought Joyce.  A wonderful fragrance of lavendar flowed throughout the suite.  The soft flame of the fireplace created ambience.

"I know Stanley will love this  place,"Joyce.  The telephone ring.

"Hello, this is Stanley, I'm here."

"Oh! Okay come to suite 204."

Stanley entered the room.  He was amazed.  "This place is really beautiful.  When did you do all of this?"

"I just completed everything a hour ago."

"You truly amaze me Joyce."

"I do?"

"Yes you do." Stanley stepped closer to Joyce.  He kissd her.

"Thank you Stanley," said Joyce.

The suite was arranged perfectly, even the music choice was grand.  Patty Labelles song, "If...You" was playing.

Stanley looked at Joyce with passion and desire.  "Baby you look so beautiful."

Joyce was wearing a Lavendar dress slightly low in the front and it fit perfectly to her small form.  The accessories and shoes matched the outfit.  She stood about 5' 5 inches tall.  A, bronze complexion.  Her hair rested gently on her shoulders.

"You really look great this evening Joyce," said Stanley.

"Thanks! You look handsome yourself," said Joyce.

"Would you like to dance," said Stanley.

"Please I'd love to." Joyce head rested on Stanley's shoulders.

"Stanley this feels so good right now."

"Um um," Stanley nibbled at Joyce's neck.

"Baby let's slow down a bit and have a glass of wine."

"Thanks" They both toasted each other.

"Here's to us a weekend filled with love," said Joyce.

The two of them sat at the snack counter nibbling snacks.

Joyce realized it was evening...she had to get dinner started. "Stanley, I'm cooking...steaks."

Stanley was resting on the couch while Joyce continued to prepare dinner.  The table was set with matching plates in lavendar.  Three candles were burning two lavendar snd one white.  It seemed like everything was moving along smoothly.

"Stanley, dinner is ready.  Come join me at the table.

"What do you mean join with you at the table?"

"I mean so we can eat together."

"Is this table supposed to be great?"

"Yes! it is a well set table with lots of food."

"I would like to remain undisturbed on the couch to continue watching the game."

"Honey, you can view the game from the table."

Stanley commences behaving very strangely.  He is now sitting at the table.

"I want you to give me the dam salt," Stanley said harshly.

"Excuse me," said Joyce.

"The salt."

"What's your problem?"

"I don't have a problem."

"Stanley, we were lovingly and joyfully enjoying each other.  What happened?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"You don't recall talking, dancing and even kissing me."

"So what."

"Stanley I don't like your attitude right now."

"Then I'll leave."

"Go right ahead because you're throwing off a lot of negative energy which brings nothing to this weekend.  I spent $1000.00 dollars to make this weekend perfect," said Joyce.

"Joyce this is all I keep hearing how much money you spent.  I'm leaving."

He walks out the door and slammed it.

Stanley's departure leaves Joyce speechless.  She sat very still for a moment, taking in several deep breaths.  She began to pray.  I've tried dear lord, now I commend this situation to you."

Joyce continues, to pray then the telephone rings.

"Joyce,this is Stanley"

"I gather that.  What can I do for you?"

"I left my keys.  May I get them?"

"You may."

There was a knock at the door.

"Just a second," said Joyce.  She had now changed into a georgous see through lavendar gown.  Stanley looks with love and lust in his heart.

"Joyce I'm so sorry.  Baby why did you put this on? You're so sexy."

"I know."

"I apologize.  I do want to be with you.  Please! Joyce give me another chance.  Let me stay."

"Well it is really late.  Besides it would take you two hours to drive home, so come on in."

Stanley started kissing Joyce passionately.  She could feel his hardness against her.

"Oh Stanley we need to stop."

"No let me feel you."

"No we can't."

"Why not."

"We are not married."

"Joyce when you invited me to gather with you this weekend; You knew I would want to have sex."

"That thought never entered my mine."

"Well why did you dress in that provocative gown?"

"Stanley I wanted to get your attention."

"For what?"

"So you would talk to me," said Joyce.

"I'll stay until tomorrow morning.  Then I will need to depart, because I have a appointment with Lily.  She'll be preparing my taxes," said Stanley.

"Why are you mentioning Lily's name."

"She's my accountant."

"How can you have a connection with her after everything she put you through?"

"I got over that."

"Stanley, she keyed your car.  The woman stalked you. She even started harassing me."

"Joyce just as I said it's over.  I moved on.  We are together now.  She didn't stop anything."

"Yeah, but you're gong to see her tomorrow."

"Joyce, let it go."

Stanley was in bed next to Joyce.  He turns his back to her.

"Goodnight Stanley," said Joyce.

"Yeah! Right."
