This true story is about my attempts to get pregnant, my experiences feeding my son and an inspirational gift that I got from my faith in God as I learned to protect him. It really happened. Look closely at the young man in the picture who is beside me in the car. That is the son who did not get childhood leukemia because of faith in God.

Before my son was born, I wanted very much to have a baby. However, it did not happen the moment that I started trying; so I spent a lot of money on fertility treatments. It cost a lot and went on for a while. I got tired of the hollow promises of science, so I started praying for a child. I even dared to tell God what kind of child that I wanted. That would be a son with special gifts. Not long after that, within a month to be specific, I was pregnant and could not thank God enough for the answered prayer. (I am still thanking God for what he did so soon after I prayed eighteen years ago.) When my son was old enough to eat solid foods, it was hard to get him to eat anything that had protein in it. He wanted foods with soft textures and did not like beans either. Finally against my better judgement, I gave him hot dog weiners for the little bit of protein that they contained. As soon as I made the decision, a voice inside my head said,"leukemia". Every time I thought about weiners, I heard the same thing,"leukemia". I had questions so I gave the voice a list. I said "rice" and heard nothing. Bologna was on that list, but I heard nothing when I got to that one. I am convinced now that it is because he did not like bologna. Finally, I asked "pineapples?" This time I got a complete sentence. "Pineapples are good." No words were ever spoken out loud. Every time I got back to the subject and asked about pineapples, I heard the same complete sentence, "Pineapples are good". So I went to the store and bought the industrial sized cans of pineapples to feed my son and his cousins to be sure there was always plenty for everyone. Then no one could accuse someone else of eating all of the pineapples. We ate leftover pineapples all week long, but it was wonderful. I had forgotten the incident until about five years later. My mother told me about a clown who came to a children's hospital where the leukemia patients were kept. The clown asked the crowd of children, "Who likes hot dogs?" Doctors were stunned as the whole mob of children raised their hands. Researchers took note. Studies were made. Finally, hot dog weiners and bologna were found to cause a high incidence of leukemia in children. Nothing was ever said about pineapples. I asked my mother who saw the report. She did not know. She only knew what researchers reported on television. So recently I looked it up on the internet to find out what is known about children's diets in relation to childhood leukemia. I found that a diet that is high in good protein such as regular meats and beans prevent childhood leukemia but not weiners and bologna. This is not the kind of diet that my son had. Therefore he really was at risk. I also found that pineapples are known to prevent a lot of diseases including cancer which might include childhood leukemia, but the internet report did not mention that one by name. So I assume that doctors still do not know what I know. I said all of that because I believe it is valuable and someone should look into it. This information would be vastly helpful for a parent who needs a home prevention to battle this malady. However, there is another point that should be made. Doctors do NOT know everything. That should speak volumes in itself. I have too many family members who hang on every word that issues out of doctors mouths, and it often cost them their lives in the end. These are people who believe that they have faith, but they demonstrate that they believe in doctors more because the mass media conditions them to put too much faith in doctors. There is still value in prayer. Jesus Christ healed the diseased people who came to him, and He still does it today. Place your faith where it will do the most good. There is a verse in the bible that says, "The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous avails much." That is not to say that sinners who want to be righteous cannot start somewhere. Ask God to forgive your sins and start living the abundant life you were meant to live. I know of a website that interested parties should look up. It has blessed me tremendously because everything these people at that site have learned in life complements things that I have learned, but their knowlege seems so much more thorough. They also give free prayer books. Look this one up if you want to know more: http://www. christianword.org It is intensly helpful.
