We love Miguela and are so blessed to have her as our daughter.
For years we had been trying for a child to no avail and then we heardof a little girl in mexico who needed a home. A child who could not speak or walk, or do anything on her own. A child who was trapped inside her body, but something in her eyes spoke to us, and we knew Miguela was to be our child.
My husband Heath a Criminal Attorney and myself decided to make the trip to Mexico City. We woul finally get to see our beautiful little girl, the child that was meant to be ours.
By no means did the adoption process happen quickly, because it was a long and tedious process, involving months of background checks and making sure we could parent a child with this severe of a disability.
I think they look at the fact that I myself am disabled as a hindurance, and they were going to do all they could to prove that I could not parent this child, but I was determined to show them. The fact that I was in a wheelchair did not mean anything other than the fact that I could not walk, and it was not going to stop me from taking care of Miguela.
After months I had finally satisifed them enough to show that I would make a good Mother for Miguela and it was certainly better than her spending her time in some state run orphanange, Mexico City just did not have the funds to care for this little girl properly and we did, Heath an attorney, and I an editior at a well known Magaizne would be able to give Miguela more than she had ever had, but it was not the material things w were worried about it was this little girls need for love, just as al little girls need love.
