It's tough being a proactive father. I did not mean to slam lawyers, my apologies if you are one. Hope you enjoy.
The other day while I asked my 10 year old son, "Son, what do you want to do with your life". His reply is enough to strike fear in almost any father. He said, I want to be a comedian. Trying not to react to abruptly, I went in to explanation mode and said son, there is making a living and doing what you love, both are important. I told him that for every hundred or so comedians only 20 or so where skilled and fortunate enough to make a living at it. He sighed, thank goodness. So I asked, "do you have a backup plan?" His comment, "I could always be a Mime,?"
I avoided the urge to scream or laugh and tell him he was destined to be a comedian. I explained further that if he wanted to make a living as a Mime he might have to be the best mime that ever lived. Obviously deflated, I said well maybe there is something else you could do. He thought and replied, "I could always be a Lawyer" I excitedly said "that's great, you do even have to be good to make a living as a lawyer".
