Two friends find out that their relationship is priceless.

Margie are you sure , you want to take on sitting for other people's kids , along with your own children ?Yes, its only for a couple of months , until school is out, and then I will have saved enough money . What are you saving for ? The new Avilee self cleaning oven.

Correct me if Im wrong Nancy, you purchased an Avilee , just last year. What difference does that make? Nancy you and Dave just got out of debt , not even a year ago. I want an Avilee, I have had this old range for over 10 years.

Nancy I think , if your current oven is working  okay, you shouldnt take on a debt like that. Nancy I have started the new freelance jobs, I have two consulting jobs, I need all the help that I can get. The new avilee , is self cleaning that saves me an average of 2 to 3 hours per week. The savings in my time , will pay for the avilee , three times over.

Nancy had never seen, Margie so steadfast , on a purchase, she wondered  if maybe there was more to this purchase than just a freedom of time .

Pouring her own coffee, as usual and taking it to the microwave , having a love for searing hot coffee. Nancy began to notice things that were different , things that were totally out of character for Margie. Nancy had never seen dried coffee stains on the coffee machine. Now, the splashing of a now hurried Margie, had exposed rushing was a part of the early morning routine.

The differences were even more prevalant, with the pungent scent of bacon, coming from the microwave, with the slightest opening of the door, to warm her coffee. Upon further examination, Nancy saw that Margie failed to clean, the microwave after cooking the mornings bacon .  The splattered grease had now turned to thick white spots, all over the place. A scene never before viewed by Nancy , due to the fact that Margie, has always been careful to wash everything in the kitchen after breakfast.

The very lack of attention to daily activities, was an indicator that just maybe , the attending to the kids, may not be a good idea. But I would have more time if I had the avilee, thoughts like that two and fro , began, with every look of bewilderment from Nancy as she viewed the untideness of the house.

The changes were evident , throughout the entire kitchen. Now sitting comfortably with coffee in hand, legs crossed, twisting her stiletto from side to side. Margie where are all the full bodied coffee cups, that I use. Well you know , I only had three , and I broke all three this morning , chasing junior, I have numerous small cups, Dave and I prefer those more anyway.

Could she be so overwhelmed in her new added , duties that she isnt aware that she is falling short. The dinner that is usually well on its way to being done by now. The dinner of today is still in the sink thawing. The laundry has not been touched, by now the third load, would be awaiting folding. The aroma of the latest fabric softener , looming through the vents, and leaking into the driveway. The scent would always make Nancy think of nurturer, and family.

Nancy would think of her own son , when smelling Margies laundry , she could see Eric smelling the collar of his jackets upon exiting the house, and smiling knowing , his buddies would want to know , what is that scent on your jacket. She remembered , Eric once, confided in her that he was grateful for her and the extra efforts that she goes through for him.

Nancy couldnt help thinking that this is the same type of passion that Margies had been privy, what would happen to Margies family if she could no longer , deliver on those little trinkets of love that they were accustomed to .

Nancy, Nancy, what were you thinking about ? Nothing important, what is it? The tea cakes are ready. You know what Im going to eat them on the run, I have to get a few errands done. Okay well call me later.

Nancy left with her friend heavy on her mind. Nancy thought of how when she was away in school, how Margie, helped with about 20 term papers to help with her school books one year, to ensure that she would not have to sit out a semester. The constant love packages , throughout that difficult semester. Nancy could still smell , the fragrant lotions, and body washes, the special dry skin makeup.

Margie was known for always doing beautiful things for others. The batch of cookies for the seniors at the center where Sarahs mom was placed, there after dementia had ravaged her mind.Sarah a childhood friend , was digesting that along with a complete hysterectomy. Margie did not stop , doing everything possible to make a comfortable transition for Sarah in her time of need.

Nancy knew what she had to do, and if she needed any further convincing , the ongoing message on the radio made it abundantly clear. A woman has just been found in an apartment , from an apparent defective fire.

Nancy needed no further convincing , she would take the $350 bonus and add $200 and purchase the new self cleaning Avilee oven.

     1 day later

Overcome with emotion , Nancy how could you. What are FRIENDS  for, and I am the luckiest individual in the world because  I have you as a FRIEND.
