Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder can happen to anyone that has lived through a traumatic experience.

Several months after my accident I beag expiencing a deep depression. I couldn't sleep for more than a second of time without having terrible flashbacks of the accident. My mind would play the horrible movie over and over. I would see the truck falling directly toward me and then smashing through my Bonneville's roof. All of the pain would once more surge throughout my body and I'd wake up screaming and terrorified. I went several weeks without sleeping more than a few seconds every day. I remembered one of the paramedics telling me not to close my eyes when they were working on getting me out of my car because if I did I may never wake up again. The prospect of dying kept me from sleeping
