I phoned my friend right away, I would like to ask sorry for not coming. I heard a voice of a woman in the receiver. “He is still asleep,” it said. Oh blessing in disguise!

My New Pair of Shoes Was Missing!
By: Prime Aque
5:30 PM. It was too early for me to rise from bed but I did. I planned something different to do this morning. John Dave, my younger brother was still asleep beside me. Our room was fully air-conditioned. It made me chill once again. I stood up with my feet. I stretched my arms, rubbed them together to produce some heat to relieve me from trembling.
I swirled to the bed where Mother, Father and Jazzy, my youngest sibling was laying. I thought they are in their fourth stage of sleep, I could hardly awake them.
I slipped out from the room, rush to the shoe rack to find my shoes… But it wasn’t there.
“Ate,” I called Ate when I saw her cooking breakfast. “Did you know where my new pair of shoes was?”
She whirled at me. “Oh, you do an early wake up, what’s up Josh?” She queried. Maybe she wondered why I got out from bed so early; I used to wake up late in the morning causing Papa to scold me when I would be late for school during school days.
“I and my friend planned to walk down the highway, some sort of exercise.” I replied. “Anyway, did you see them?”
“No.” She went back to cooking.
I stop for a moment, thinking where I kept those shoes.
I forgot the clock. I rushed towards the terrace. Oh, the sun was already shining so bright--scorching. Oh no, It’s too late for jogging.
I phoned my friend right away, I would like to ask sorry for not coming. I heard a voice of a woman in the receiver. “He is still asleep,” it said. Oh blessing in disguise!
