This is a short, short story that I wrote to honor my maternal grandmother. She fills my childhood memories with the wonders of love and tenderness. I think that this story is representative of her companionship.

Grandma’s Skilley Gilley

Grandma’s Skilley Gilley was the best pasta dish I ever ate.  It was a concoction of macaroni, hamburger, tomato sauce, cheese and a magical combination of spices that I have never been able to duplicate.

Unfortunately Grandma passed away last spring and I will never taste her Skilley Gilley again.  But I won’t forget spending wonderful summer days at Grandma’s house with Grandpa pushing me on the back yard swing, then making dolls from spoons and napkins while smelling that delicious aroma wafting from the Kitchen.  Finally I’d hop my way through red linoleum blocks to eat Grandma’s Skilley Gilley.

How sweet to take this memory and keep it within. I, too, have a special grandma. Go to my den and read "Anona". How lucky we are to have had these experiences.
