Johnny writes on his laptop computer from the cruise ship, where he, his sister, Ronee', and his parents, are on their way to Alaska.
AHOY MATEY!!
This is Johnny! I am on the ship this morning, and we are currently on our way to Alaska; and according to the captain of the ship, the trip will take a few days. (I just hope my stomach can take it...I don't do rocking motions very well...if I have to leave all of a sudden, you will probably know why!)
Mommy, daddy, and Ronee' are with me; we are going to Alaska for two weeks, and we will probably see lots of neat and interesting things along the way. But right now, as I look out the window of my room on the ship, all I see is water, as far as I can see, and it's a bit boring. But later, mommy said that we could go to the dining area and have lunch, or maybe go to the game area. They have stuff for kids and adults to do, and maybe the trip won't be so bad! But right now, my stomach is a bit on the upset side; I have never been on a ship before, and I can feel the rocking motions in the pit of my stomach, and...and...excuse me; I gotta' use the bathroom...ohhhhhhhh-------
I am back, but I am feeling poorly. My poor stomach is queasy, and it is all I can do to keep from thinking about it; but that isn't easy when I look out and see the water...oh, dear...I have that funny feeling again...be back!
Sorry about that, but my tummy is not having a good time on this stupid cruise, and neither am I! I never thought a ship could be so hard on a kid's stomach, but this is proving to be quite a challenge for me! My sister doesn't seem to be bothered by it; she is lying on the bed, reading her book about the Northern Lights and chewing gum and popping it; it is really getting on my last nerve! I don't need to smell her strawberry breath when she breathes on me; maybe if she does, I can get sick on her, and she'll learn to leave me alone! (Hey! That's an idea...) Mommy and daddy are acting like teenagers: they are standing at the window, holding hands and kissing. It's rather embarrassing, if you want my honest opinion!
I just hope no storms come; I don't want to be on this boat if a storm comes up; if one does, I just may jump out the window and SWIM all the way to Alaska! But that doesn't seem like a good idea, so I think I will just scratch that...I don't want to be on this stupid boat if a storm comes; I just may regret it, and I may make a mess of the ship; and the captain may get annoyed at me and make me scrub the poop deck...
I also hope that Captain Hook isn't on this trip; I saw Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck; but so far, I haven't seen Captain Hook. I think that may be a good thing; knowing MY luck, he'd probably take ME his prisoner and make me sit on the plank (I can't WALK the plank; I am in a CHAIR!!), and then I will have to be crying and begging him not to dunk me in the water or feed me to the sharks...
Think PLEASANT thoughts, here, Johnny..But it is NOT easy when my stomach is doing the dipsy-doodle thing; I am trying NOT to think about it, but it is proving to be difficult at best!! I hope we get to Alaska SOON; I don't know if my stomach (or I!) can survive the rest of this boat ride!!
I will write again; HOPEFULLY we'll be on LAND, and HOPEFULLY my poor stomach can stop doing the Maasai jumping dance! Until I write again, it's over and out!!
~Love, your (seasick) friend, Johnny Sandusky, aged 11.

I have never been on a ship per say, but have been on tug-boats and a hovercraft. Was on a ferry a few times but that is all. For me, it is flying or staying to the ground!
AN Excellent story Karen, again as usual!
Hope the seasickness goes away soon!
I will be in suspense!
