A black Maine Coon cat shares his story to "human" audiences.

Meow!
My name is Highball, and I am a very handsome creature if I do say so myself. I am a solid-black Maine Coon with very large blue-green eyes, and a powerful, solidly-built body. I am a very big Cat: I weigh close to eighteen pounds, and I have a very fluffy tail and long, flowing fur that only accentuates my huge being.
I live with my Human Family in Denver, Colorado, the Gipsons, and I love my Humans very much. They take very good care of me, and they sure do enjoy having me in their World. I enjoy them too, especially when they feed my my favorite treats or give me new playtoys or take me to the Vet-Doctor's when I am not feeling my best. I also share my Living Quarters with a funny looking Dog-Creature, a white Pomeranian named George, and he IS okay, but he is very noisy, and sometimes he gets mad at me if I try to take HIS toys or tease him. Sometimes it goes to the point of where I start laughing at him. Well, at times I can't help it: he looks so funny with his poufed out fur (he resembles a cottonball with ears and legs! LOL), and he acts like HE is SuperDawg! I swear he thinks he is part PitBull or German Shephard or something instead of this tiny, five-pound Barking Machine! LOL
I have a very happy life. I spend a lot of it sleeping, eating, taking care of my Personal Affairs (Going to the Potty, if you will), playing, and purring or meowing or hissing (depending on my mood). I don't venture outside because we live near a road, and I am scared that I will get hit by a Car or a Bus or a Bike, and I don't want to spend my time in a Vet Hospital! I also don't like Strange Dogs I don't know, for their risking of chasing ME up a tree (and then my Humans would have to call people called Firefighters to get me down!!), and I don't like getting caught out in the weather when it rains or snows. So I have the warmth and sanctuary of my House, and I am a happy camper when I am lying on the livingroom rug, stretched out lazily in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace, and I don't have to WORRY about things like Strange Dogs, bad weather, or Cars, so neener, neener, neener to the Great Outdoors! :)
I will go for now; my Paws are getting tired from typing this on the Computer. (Betcha didn't KNOW a Pussy Cat like ME could type on a COMPUTER, but hey--I am SMART!! :) ), so I will lie down and take another CatNap to reenergize. So on that note, See ya! Maybe I will look for mice when I awaken or eat some good tuna (that is, if I can convince my HUMAN MOMMY to give me some instead of my usual boring CAT FOOD!!).
~"Highball". :) *purring*
You gotta' understand something here before I close. That picture of me was taken when I was but a Kitten; I wasn't up to my Full Adult Size yet. I look the same, only I am a LOT bigger!
~"Highball". :) *more purring*

I love chasing fat furry cats up trees...Ed (er, uh, Rufuz)
And don't think you will ever get a following like I got here, you upstart...though I will give you a high paw for this your first write, you did a good job, now go back to sleeping, purring, and eating, thats all cats are good for, other than giving me some exercise every now and then...Ed, I mean, again, Rufuz... |

Dear Highball,
You are one handsome looking kitty - and Welcome to Authors Den!
I love your story, and I bet you can give good old Rufuz a run for his money on being one of AD's favorite pets (but don't tell nasty old Ed Matlack I said that - wise old Rufuz would understand, but I doubt Ed would!!)
PS I hope George is treating you well. |
