Trinity Caillier and family are finally back home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Their house had some damage from Gustav, but they are grateful to be alive.

September 23, 2008, Lake Charles, Louisiana~

Dear Journal~

Hey!  Remember me?? It's Trinity Caillier from Lake Charles, Louisiana!

We are finally back home in Louisiana, after spending what seemed an eternity in stupid Fort stupid Worth, Texas!  'Course, we came back home to a damaged house (roof caved into our living room; flooded the living room, et al), but at least other than that, our house is still standin'!

It could have been worse:  the house could have been blown clear off its foundation, and then we would have been homeless.  Now we are staying at an uncle's house, Uncle Gizmo, and he's more'n happy to take us all in.  He's got room; his house is really huge!

It feels good to be back in Louisiana again, even though right now we're temporarily displaced until our house can get fixed.  That might be as long as a month or so, according to the people working on it.

I'm back in school, and so far it's goin' good.  It's good to see all my friends again.  They were sorry to hear of the damage to our house.  They've been supportive of me, which I appreciate!  They were glad I had fun at LeCajun.

I watched the video tape of LeCajun yesterday after school, and there's a real good shot of me stuffin' my face with boudin.  Looks real charmin'...NOT!! LOL  They also got a shot of maman and papere' dancin'; they looked so happy!

I just hope no more hurricanes come knockin' at our door (okay, uncle Gizmo's door!); I'm gettin' all hurricane'ed out!!

It won't be long before the weather starts coolin' down; then we can finally say goodbye to this long, hot summer.  Been brutal down here:  highs in the nineties with extremely high humidity; seems after a hurricane it only gets worse, and the heat clings to you like leeches.  You step out of the shower, and five minutes later, you're covered in a sheen of sweat, and you're ready to rip your dangfool clothes off!  Now THAT'S hot!!

I'm sick of it!  I wish we'd get some snow; I'd give anythin' to see some!  NEVER seen snow except in pictures or on my granpere's head (he has a headful of silvery white hair)!! LOL

Well, I am going to go now; have to get ready for school, eat my breakfast, and then make sure the little nimrods (r.e., my siblings) get up before they miss the bus, like they did yesterday, and then they were yellin' at me like I'd done it!!  It was NOT fun!  Take care and God bless; see ya 'round!

~Trinity M.G. Caillier. :)

I've been waiting for Trinity to finish or update her return home.. Glad that they did not lose their home entirely, and happy that it will be repaired soon. Lucky for them that Uncle Gizmo has a nice big place to keep them all for awhile! I've really enjoyed her writing about the fore' and aft' and love her spunky personality and how it comes thru! lindalaw

Storms come and go, but left behind experiences to remember together with the loves ones. Material damages can be repaired but many that were left behind will never forget.
God bless.
