Dear Journal~
Charles Wayne Wright here. Thought I'd let you know that we are in need of your prayers right now.
My step brother in law, Rick, has been injured in an accident; he has suffered numerous broken bones; he's in the hospital. I really don't know all the details yet; they are still coming together. I am sure this has devastated my sister, not to mention, their children; they've come to love Rick as a father, something they really didn't have with their biological father.
Also, Kendra Kent's daughter, Holly, who has cancer, is lying in a hospital bed at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, where she continues to valiantly fight for her life. Right now, things are not looking very good for her. Kendra has been beside herself with worry, as have many other people who know them.
As I find out more details regarding my step brother in law, I will pass them on to you; until then, we sit back, wait, and wonder, not to mention, pray like we've never prayed before.
The same applies to young Holly. If anything changes, I will sure be able to get back to you as soon as possible.
Now that the bad news is out of the way, I have good news, even in amidst all of this sadness. Our newest child, Promise Hope, is with us from Liberia, Africa; what a little cutie pie she is! She is six years old and has been diagnosed as having diplegic cerebral palsy. She uses a wheelchair most of the time; for shorter distances, she uses either a wheeled walker or crutches.
Brooklyn, Emily, Rheese, and Mwugu, our other children, are absolutely delighted with their new sister! They just adore her!
I have been working part time at the hospital; it feels so good to be among "my kind" again! I have missed working with Dr. Stryker, Louie Sandusky, Dr. Winnie (Brady), Dr. Emmons, Jane E. Doe, Carson Ryder (x-ray tech), etc.; I have a wonderful circle of friends at Nashville Memorial Hospital! I work three days a week; work three twelve hour shifts. Can't do the doubles just yet; not quite strong enough since my last surgery or illness.
Getting there, but not there quite yet. Just have to take it one step, one day, at a time!
Ever since Holly took bad, the phone has been ringing practically nonstop. And now with Rick being injured, I am sure the phone will only get busier, so today, even though I'm off, will be hectic, as I try to field off the latest Holly-and-Rick information to concerned family members or friends! Also church! (They're in this too; they've already been informed, thanks to the "resident town crier", Louie Sandusky, who seems to get information before anyone else has had a chance to hear about it!)
If anyone wants to get information on the latest happenings, all they have to do is ask Louie Sandusky: she knows! Believe me! LOLOLOL
Well, the danged phone is going off again; hopefully it's good news about Holly or more information about Rick Calloway! Either way, I will have to do some heavy duty praying before I even answer it! Take care and may God bless you; please keep us in your prayers! We could really use them!
Thanking you in advance~
~As always, Wayne. :(
