Greetings from Barrow, Alaska!
Mattaq Eegeesiak writing. I am on break as I write this; thought I would update you on what has been going on.
I no longer work at the gas station/convenience store. I finally decided I had enough abuse from my employer and my co-workers so I quit my job and got a new one not far from where I live. I now work at a grocery store and am working as a cashier. It is much better on me and I don't have to put up with so much guff. My new boss is very nice and doesn't treat me like a piece of garbage, which has helped my mood considerably.
I don't work nearly as many hours: I work Monday through Saturday, from six a.m. until 3 p.m., so that means, I only have less than two hours left before I am done for the day. I will then go grocery shopping as I am running low on food. I go grocery shopping just about every two weeks; it's only me, so I don't have to worry about running out of food so quickly.
The weather here has been snowy, but today it is sunny; yet it does little to warm the temperature. Currently it is 24 degrees with a light wind. That means when I get home I will have to plug the car tonight to the charger or else I will have a dead vehicle and won't be able to go to church tomorrow morning. Such as life here in the Arctic regions of Alaska.
No doubt, the auroras will be making an appearance tonight. They seem to have been coming out every night lately, so I have come to expect them. Don't mind them so much, but if they're really strong and bright, they can wreck commincation and mess up the signal for the Internet, making connection impossible at times.
This is why you hear from me on a sporadic basis. The Internet can be raather moody when the auroras are out.
I have met a girl at the store where I work. I think I might be falling in love with her. Her name is Charity Kigalaq. She is in her later 30's and is very cute: she reminds me of my late sister Sikik in a way. Charity seems to be very nice and maybe it is the spirits' way of telling me that it is time to have somebody in my life. I sure hope so because ever since Sikik passed away nearly four years ago, I have been an emotional basketcase!
Well, I know this isn't long, but now you know what has been new with me. I will try to write more soon; I have always been terrible at keeping people informed as to how I am doing. I guess it's because I'm somewhat of a private person; writing about myself always makes me rahter uncomfortable. I will try to do better next time I write. Unitl then, this is Mattaq Eegeesiak saying may the spirits bless you! Take care!
