Howdy from Texas!
Today is a beautiful day. I'm taking a break from doing homework; wanted to write in my journal to let y'all know how I am doing. I am sitting outside, at the picnic table while my Daddy grills burgers and Mama makes mashed potatoes and salad in the kitchen. My brothers Sawyer and Simpson (they're five and eight; I'm 11) are playing catch and my dog, "Spitsy", is running around like the crazy mutt he is.
The weather is perfect: cool with temps in the middle to upper 70's and lower humidity levels and nary a cloud in the sky. Wall to wall sunshine. I absolutely love this kind of weather; it's better than the ninety plus degree heat we have had for the past week or so!
We had a tornado near our place, but thankfully not much in the way of damage other than some shingles torn off our roof. Still, it's nothing that can't be replaced. We also lost our power for a few hours, which sucked. It was rather scary! I was never so glad to see it end!
We have maybe one more week or so of school; then it's OVER. I will then be in the sixth grade come fall. I can't wait 'til summer vacation! We may go to Fossil Rim for a few days or maybe to Dallas to see the zoo and visit my Aunt Maya and her boyfriend, Juan. They're really cool; I love them!
We also may go to Galveston to the beach. Mama went to Galveston last year with Daddy for their anniversary and they loved it. (We kids din't go; we had the chickenpox. Our Nana watched us while Mom and Daddy went to Galveston.) I would like to run around on the beach and play in the water! That would be so awesome!!
Daddy and Mama voted yesterday. It was an early election. I'm too young to vote, but not too young to follow the news. I am totally disgusted with our president; he deosn't know what in the heck he is doing; he is absolutely ruining this country to the ground!
I pray and hope with all my heart that he loses the elections in November; he's the worst president we have ever had!
I wish I could vote, or at least tell the president where to go ... and it ain't to the beach!
No major homework tonight; it's awesome! (Have a little yet to do,but I'm over halfway done with it. Math. YUCK.) We were going to church, but then Mama and Dad wanted to cook outside, and we boys all said yay, so that's how that goes.
No church tonight. Just gonna relax and have FUN!!!!!!!
Well, I'd best go; it's about time to get our grub faces on and chow down! Ummm, ummm, but those burgers smell heavenly! Cajun style too; my favorite kind! Take care; until later, this is Sandusky W. Hughes saying so long; God bless!
