'Thou Shalt Not Steal. ...'

A girl sits in a jail cell for stealing some CDs and small electronic equipment from Wal Mart; naturally, her mother is devastated. This is their story, as told by the mother of the young girl.

I never thought that Ashleigh, my daughter, would stoop so low to do something like this.  As a result, the world as I have known it has been completely upended and I'm at a loss as what to do or what to say to my daughter.

My daughter is 15 years old, old enough to know better.  She was taught right from wrong as a little girl and I was hoping that what we had taught her as a child would somehow stick with her, but that seems to have flown by the wayside.

Apparently, according to police reports, Ashleigh somehow got into her grandmother's purse and swiped her credit cards, then decided to go on a little shopping spree.  She went to Wal-Mart, where she bought herself some CD's by Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts and some ear buds for her Ipod (or so she claimed).  Turns out she stole the CDs and the ear buds and the security cameras caught her in action.  A man on crutches who worked in the security department at the store was the one who alerted police.

The police came to Wal Mart, where they then hauled Ashleigh off to the police station, then to jail when she argued with them and would not confess.  Ashleigh remains in jail two days later.

I am so angry at Ashleigh right now I am seeing red.   Her grandmother, who happens to have Alzheimer's, knows nothing of this incident; she doesn't know anything anymore; she lives in a nursing facility for patients with Alzheimer's or like diseases.  Ashleigh took advantage of a poor, disabled elderly woman; I don't think I could ever forgive her for doing this to her grandmother ... or to us.

You see, the grandmother also happens to be a mother.  MY mother.

I feel so violated!

I could go to jail and bail her out; after all I AM her mother, but at the same token, she needs to be taught a valuable lesson, in that crime does not pay, no matter how it may be committed!  I am so sick and disgusted right now that I don't even want to look at her face; if I do, I would want to slap that snarky smile right off her face!  She has copped an ugly attitude as of late, and I'm at my wit's end with this child!

~To be continued.~

If I were Mama, I'd let her sit in jail for a few days. Maybe then Ashleigh would learn her lesson. :( Well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
