Seems my son, Brock, is a con artist in training.
Whenever he acts up, he refuses to 'fess up and take his punishment like a man. He blames everybody else for his errant behaviour; he refuses to take responsibility for his actions.
Case in point: the other day, Brock, who is ten, smashed a baseball right through the picture window in the livingroom. When Dudley (husband) and myself inquired about it, Brock said (and these were his exact words): "The butler did it."
Can you imagine that?? Cheeky little lad! For one thing, we don't even have a butler. We don't live in a mansion: we live in a normal house in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada! We are as normal a family you would ever want to meet!
Now we have a busted window out front in our livingroom and Dudley and myself are going to have to come up with a way to scrabble for the money for repairs while also dealing with a child who won't admit that he was the one who perpetrated the dastardly deed.
We are going to have to come up with a punishment to fit the crime.
Brock is one of these type of kids who will find ways to get their parents' goat and not take the blame. He's a kid who think it is fun to push our buttons, just to see how far he can push. Well, lately, his activity is getting on our nerves and we are going to have to come up with something fast to deal with his bad-boy behaviour before he is reported to the proper authorities who deal with problem children on a regular basis!
