I am shaking-scared.
There's a madman loose in our neighborhood and people are being advised to stay indoors, lock their doors and windows, and pull down the shades. The man in question is carrying a baseball bat and is running around the neighborhood, naked as the day he was born, threatening to bash people with it..
This has been going on for the past three hours; there's no clue as to when it will let up. I am wondering if it is our neighbor, Mr. Canyon: he has been known to pull stunts like this in the past, but nothing, nothing like this!
I know Mr. Canyon has severe mental problems: depression, maybe shitzophrenia (spelling?), or bi polar illness, perhaps. He has become worse ever since his wife died and there's talk he suffers flashbacks: he was in the first Gulf War. There is no telling what is going on with his mind, but whatever it is, it's very serious.
The sad thing is, the neighbor has gone to counseling before or for treatment, but whenever the doctors give him his medication, he flat out refuses to take them. He claims they turn him into "a walking zombie". Maybe so, but anything's better than being held hostage because a neighbor's bizarre behavior has gone way off the deep end!
I had such a nice morning too: went to church with my family, then out to eat; when we arrived onto our street, I was surprised to see it crawling with police activity; there were police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances ined up and upon pulling into our driveway, a trio of policemen walked up to our car and told us to get into the house as there was "a madman" loose on the street and they were currently trying to deal with him before he physically injured or even killed somebody with the baseball bat.
Well, I just heard gunfire, so that must mean the cops got him. I pray Mr. Canyon isn't hurt, but he was becoming a danger to himself (and definitely others), so hopefully he was stopped. I also hear sirens going off, so that means the firemen and EMS units must be going to help him. I pray he will be okay; nobody should ever have to go through something like this! NOBODY!
I mainly feel bad for Mr. Canyon because he was a Veteran, and he deserved far better treatment than what he's gotten so far out of life!
