It's been happening again: the weird, rustling noises, the sound of the wind signing outside my bedroom window here at the farm, and a creeping sensation icing up my spinal column.
Seems that since it is October, these niggling feelings happen with regular abandon. I keep telling my family that I hear or see things, but all they do is laugh (or in the case of my baby sister, stick their tongue at me and give me the world's biggest raspberry).
Just last night, as an example, I happened to look out my bedroom window, only, to my horror, to see a dark shape lurching clumsily in the yard. It freaked me out, so much, in fact, I let out a girlie-type yelp. Of course, when I told my family (and Uncle Elmer) what I had seen, they laughed right in my face and said I watched or read too many horror stories.
I'm sorry. I know what I saw, and my eyes don't play tricks. I saw that dark, bulky shape moving sure as certain, and somehow I am going to make my family believe me. I don't know how, but I'm gonna do it, some way, some how.
Ever since I discovered the scarecrow walking about, I find it hard to sleep at night. Very hard, in fact. It's as if my worst nightmare has suddenly come true , and I'm scared that the scarecrows are going to attack me or my family and devour us alive!
