When school starts all over the world, and especially here in the good old USA, an army of dedicated unsung heroes arrive to pick-up and deliver those little bundles of joy we call our children safely to school, field trips, and back again. Where would we be without them? How many of us realized at the time how special those bus drivers really were?

I remember with affection a few of my bus drivers from when I was a child. Even the one that drove off the road a little once, causing  a minor commotion as the the stop sign noisily hit every window on the side of the bus as we passed it by. She or he was faithfully waiting in the morning at the bus yard near where I lived, no matter snow, rain, or shine. As such I always had the longest ride to school and back, spending the most time on the bus both going and coming. The longest  that is except for the driver, who at the end of the day  always awaited patiently for me to depart along with her own kids my age. As soon as we were quickly all off and appeared only as a cloud of dust departing in the distance, she would grab the broom and spray bottle and clipboard to get the bus ready for the next trip. A trip filled with a bus full of tomorrow's adults, those that became the moms and dads and janitors and preachers and teachers and presidents and yes, ahem, yes last but not least...you God blessed bus drivers of today!
