Signing my name the first time in my book was heart warming to say the least.

When my book first came out several people wanted it right away and I felt humble and happy but didn't want to show my real feelings.  All I really wanted to do was to jump up and down and shout to all of Southport that I was now a publlished writer.  But I kept my cool and tried to be very sophisticated about it.  I didn't know what to write but somehow I was able to think of the person's name before writing it down.  Even though I knew her well, at the moment her name would not come to me.  I was not about to ask what her name was, bringing embarrassment to me in my moment of glory.

Have any of you felt the same way?  I felt like a jerk not knowing her name.  Finally after writing something, I thought of her name and added it.  I was a happy camper because I have always wanted to write and finally at the age of 71 I did it and I am a proud woman.

My children and grandchildren, the ones old enough to read the book,  praised me for weeks and each time they called they wanted to know how many books I had sold.  They were so happy about the book and wanted everyone to know that their "gram" was a writer and had published a book.  With them saying this to others when I was around made my heart flutter because I could see the joy in their faces.  My granddaughter,  who is eleven and lives in Mrytle Beach, SC wanted me to come to her school and talk about my book.  I have not done it yet but plan to in the next few weeks since I am going to try to have some book signing there.  What a joy to have grandchildren who really care and I love them as much as my own children, sometimes even more.  They are special in every way.

Shelby,
Yes, I have forgotten an acquaintance's name, much to my embarrassment!! I asked how they wanted it spelled, hoping that wouldn't backfire if their name happened to be Sam.
It takes a lot of patience and imagination to write a book--you SHOULD be proud!
All the best,
Leann
