Mark is a well educated, well rounded man except.
The rain danced against the window panes as Mark sat at his desk
working on the last of his files for the day.
He checked his watch and sighed, just one hour left and he would be
free for a whole week. He smiled at the thought that he would be taking his girlfriend Maggie to meet his family.
He had been out with other women before, actually many women but Maggie was different. There was just something about her that made him shiver. He shook his head when he realized he had been sitting there with his eyes closed.
"Let's get this finished," he said aloud.
Martha peeked around the cubical wall and smiled at him.
"Talking to yourself again?" she asked as she batted her eyes at him.
"In a half hour I am so out of here," He again pulled out his watch and checked the time.
"Do you have any other plans while your visiting your family?" she asked with a wink.
"Just the usual stuff, " he replied. She shook her head at him and smiled.
"What?" He asked with a rather large scowl.
"You know you wanna ask her, just ask her already." She watched as he began stuffing his files into his desk drawer.
"No, I am not asking her, at least not yet anyways."
"Well let me know how it all turns out," she laughed.
"I'm sure you'll be the first to know," He slung his heavy black bag over his shoulder and pushed in his chair.
"Bye, I'll see you in a week," he said over his shoulder. She wathed him walk away and stopped for a moment to give their conversation a thought. She had known Mark for the last eight years they had worked together. Not once in those years did she ever see him take any of his girlfriends home to meet his family. She jumped when the phone on her desk rang.
