following Basho...

Basho Journey...
thoughts of a haiku diva

following Basho / my small steps / far below Tokyo

Kyoto / a distant joy rises / from my misty eyes

shades of grey / prayer stones and bibbed jizos/ early autumn

sunlight / before the shrine / a flock of pigeon shadows

autumn's arrival / the bare trees sculpt a grey sky

on the journey / my mind also travels / golden rice fields

Mogami River / in the sound of waves / more waves

Haiku - Hiroshima

in the presence of corpses - the river and sky

deathbeds - stripped from existence,

red sky - the dead children mothers will not find

natsu no hana
pieces of debris
among corpses

The 60th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan, was held on August 6 and 9th, 2005. In memory of the 270,000 people who died during and shortly after the bombing, members of the Great Vow Zen Monastery sent 400,000 images of Jizo to Hiroshima and Nagasaki – more than one Jizo for every human who died as a result of the bombs, each Jizo - from the heart of one person, to the heart of another.
