Where there's a will, there's a way.

I love to cook with fresh herbs and enjoy growing my own when I can.  But I live in a condo and gardens are really a no-no.  For all of you that are in my situation, I've found a way around this.  I hide my herbs.  I have sage and dill growing on my front stoop right now.  I planted them in large pots and "hide" them by putting fake ivy around them so they wouldn't be spotted so easily.  I even have a couple of bell pepper plants growing out there that if you walk by, you would think is also ivy.  I did plant a rosemary plant near the back of my building.  I also plant pretty flowers there every year for everyone to enjoy.  I just didn't know rosemary got so big!  I get by with it through telling everyone to help themselves to the plant.  "Where there is a will, there is a way."  Actually, all of the board members know about my herbs and think the ivy trick is cute.  They all use it as a joke, watching to see what I';m going to plant next. They also enjoy the goodies I pass around to them.

This story goes along with my recipe for what I call "Herb Basted Chicken" found on page 45 of my book Stir, Laugh, Repeat.
