THE GUEST OF HONOR IS MISSING
We always make our plans but God makes his. Have you ever planned something so perfectly and it does not go exactly like it was scheduled? Then we get frustrated and tired of doing it over and over. Sometimes we give up, sometimes we keep on...Whether we admit is or not, the world belongs to God and there is so much we have no control of. Like Sunrise and sunset, the weather, the race you are born in... You know these things and we enjoy them without charge.
Nevertheless, a trip to the shop might end at the bank, a job interview that does not go so well but you end up with a better job. A party on a beautiful lawn with canopies and great guests, interrupted by the rain; the rain was not in the plan even if it was expected, could not be avoided. A tiny home and a million dollar home, all built with effort and costs and the storm or the fire consumes them both. The storm or fire, knows no cost or labor. A mother and father having a beautiful baby and give the baby their everything, keeping aside a huge trust fund for the child’s future, just incase...but fate makes them use all the trust funds for the child at the hospital and still have to painfully put the baby 6 feet under the ground...A family man working at the WTC, planning to go home at close of business and a plane runs right through the office building in NYC. He never makes it home.
A father going about his business and giving his wife and kids all the wealth they can ask for with no parental supervision and no love and plans to come home and get love...good luck!
We might make plans to someday fall in love with A, B or C and have babies by a certain age or time, but we end up with D and way out of schedule...
Moses had plans to hide from God after a brutal murder but God had other plans to make Him the leader of a nation. Paul had a plan to kill Christians during his time but God had other plans to use Him to tell of His Love. David, Solomon, Daniel, George Bush etc all had big plans. I had a plan to have a great job, 2 kids and a tall and handsome, responsible and loving man by the time I am 32...ha-ha! Boy! Oh boy! Am I way out of schedule... I still have plans, but this time, they are in Gods hands and what ever he chooses for me, I will gladly oblige because I know His plan for me is always better than mine.
Mary and Joseph had plans to be married and live a quiet life but God had other plans and by faith they went through some tough times they did not ask for, despite their financial and living conditions. The result is the world celebrating their child forever.
All these things are real. Things that have happened and will go on for ever. The good news is, if we trust God enough we will understand why His plan is always better. It takes faith and accepting Jesus from celebrating Him, the day He was born.
We all want to be important, cool, loved, pretty or handsome... so we seek attention in ways that bring us mostly the opposite of what we really want. We get selfish, unsatisfied and afraid to be who we truly are. We fail to see that we have all been wonderfully created with all these things already. We just have to learn how to listen to God and to each other and share the best of us with each other. (How hard that must be).
This Message is focused on Listening, to the people around us and to God speaking to us. Sometimes bad things happen to us because God is trying to get our attention, sometimes it is as a result of our irresponsibility whether we chose to shift the blame or not. There are things we say with our mouths but we know our hearts do not agree with. He helps us grow and learn through it all regardless. No matter how much we chose to deny Him. He is alive and owns the air we breathe, the ground we walk on, the cars we drive and the people we love. He can take them anytime He wants and there is nothing we can do about it.
Even those who deny the one that was born over 2000 years ago, still celebrate Him. It’s a birthday party, a huge one; the whole world celebrates (Maybe a few others don’t and I still love them and respect their choices and belief).
We talk about peace, love, joy, gifts, family...but the guest of honor is missing. It’s the one time in the world that we have the most parties, shopping etc. We sing, we smile, our hearts are filled with gladness, a kind that only this special Birthday brings...Why?
What are your plans?
Most of our strength comes thru pain and as we heal through the tough times it builds our strength and character. As much as we cannot judge a book from its cover, Gods grace will never make sense if we are looking from the outside. We have to come to Him and Know Him to understand His Grace, Mercy and Love for us. It is not by force, it is by choice. I know no one that has regretted knowing God. Some might try to run away after knowing Him because of guilt and fear but none that has ever had regrets knowing Him, None. The truth is, whether we come to him or not. He loves us regardless.
It is seen in our smile and in our hearts, we know it, but we deny it because of fear what we don’t know and what the world may think. I am NOT ashamed of my God. I respect anyone else from different religions, culture and lifestyle and I love all people from all reaches; gay, straight who ever you are. I just may disagree with opinions and values, but we can always agree to disagree. After all we were created by the God who loves us just the same.
Make an Honest compliment to at least 10 people and give a gift of yourself to someone in need, even if you have no money to buy something for someone and tell me how that felt. Our greatest Joy and blessings come when we give and not when we receive. We should not give because we want to receive but because we have been given much. Just being alive is a blessing. You will be surprised to find that most people are afraid to receive a gift or a helping hand because they are afraid they might be asked to give back and they don’t know how to give…That’s life. I give because I have been given much; LOVE. This is the greatest gift of all.
Christians or not, we practice giving at Christmas as a tradition of Gods gift of a savior and the gift of the savior’s life for the sake of our sins of the past, of today and of the future. The great gift of Salvation. Your gifts are still lying by His side, unwrapped. He cannot break into your heart. You have to open the door and come to Him and He will come to you. Then you will enjoy every other Christmas even better than before.
The guest of honor is still waiting. He does not mind if you join the party.
I love you all and I wish everyone Gods Richest blessings this Christmas season and always.
