“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” Michelangelo
My husband and I were in Union Square in San Francisco this weekend watching the ice skaters on the new outdoor rink when I gazed upon a huge billboard above the storefronts that read, “Peace + Love. Have a hippie holiday!”
Interesting advertisement. The hippie generation of the 60’s and 70’s are now in their 50’s and 60’s. Was peace and love achieved? Are hippie and happy the same?
As you gather with family and friends to celebrate this Thanksgiving, give thanks for the peace and love you have known in your life. Envision the possibilities for our future generations and decide to participate in creating the future.
Thank you for your generosity to Be the Star You Are!® charity. Without your support we would not be entering our tenth year of service to others in need. If you have not already contributed, we invite you to begin today. Participate in the essay contest, submit a story for our new book, donate to our book giving program, make a contribution just because you believe!
It’s the time of the year for giving. Get a tax deduction and do something positive at the same time. You’ll feel better.
I understand what Michelangelo was saying with his quote above. He is encouraging each of us to reach for the stars and expect to land on them. We become what we believe we can be.
Have a peaceful and loving Thanksgiving. Have a very hippie holiday!
