It happens all the time. It could happen to you... ...perhaps it has and you just don't realize it.

Doctor Ryan Thorpe stepped out of the black sedan and walked directly towards the young man standing a few meters away.  Thorpe's appearance gave the impression of a man who is very sure of himself, a man obviously accustomed to getting results.
 
"You simply must tell me about this incident in the forest, Mr. Newman.  My organization is being pressed for answers from the authorities and we cannot be patient any longer.  Now, if I am to understand, you and some friends were out there having a party..."
 
"Now just you wait a second!" interrupted Tim Newman. 
 
He was a young man who could not have been much more than twenty years of age.  He was slight of build and rather handsome with his dark complexion although he gave the impression of being somewhat distraught while trying not to show it.
 
He went on, "That's a real good one.  You and your so-called associates or whatever the hell you call them, are getting impatient.  Well, I really feel for you all.  What about me, hey?  This is the third time in five days that you've come here uninvited.  I told the cops and I told the press and I'm telling you one more time; I have absolutely no intention of talking about what happened in those woods.  Get that through your head full of PhD bullshit and get the hell out of here!"
 
"I don't think you understand, Mr. Newman.  We simply must get at the truth.  Three young people from this community vanished that night.  We have been kind enough to give you a break to get over the shock, that's all."  Thorpe wearily glanced towards the distant forest.  "You were with them.  You're the only one who can help us get at the truth.  And, of course, we can help you."
 
Newman laughed sarcastically.  "The truth… …Yeah, sure.  You and your boys, whoever you really are, you have so much truth from incidents, as you call them, from the past fifty years, you can't keep it from starting to leak out all over the place.  Who are you working for anyway?  As if I need to ask!  Is it the military, the CIA, the FBI, the National Enquirer; or maybe all of the above?  Each one of them has about the same degree of credibility.  What a joke!  Even if I were to tell you what happened, which I cannot do, you'd somehow twist it all around and make me look like some kind of local idiot psycho and move on to control the next incident.  No thanks, man, just forget it.  I know damn well I'll be better off without your kind of help.
 
Thorpe tried to appear more menacing and the tone of his voice indicated his rising frustration as he continued. "You are going to force our hand and I can assure you, Mr. Newman, you will not come out of this the winner.  There is too much power bearing down upon you.  You cannot stop the system.  There are rules here and procedures to be followed.  The security of the nation could be at stake here.  People panic so easily, Mr. Newman.  You have no choice but to cooperate with us if you ever hope to resume some kind of normal life."
 
The young Newman looked visibly angered by the last of the doctor's statement.  He raised his voice considerably and there was a noticeable twitch of his left cheek as he exclaimed. "I told you to go to hell and I meant it!  If you think you can just come over here whenever you choose and threaten me, you obviously haven't done a very good job of studying my latest psychological profile; or maybe it's just not in the files yet, hey?  Is that it?  Well, I don't give a damn.  You talked about patience earlier.  Guess what, I just ran out of it.  I've got work to do, doc, work of a higher order you might say, and the guys and gals I work for don't give any breaks.  They don't give a shit about my state of shock because they're experts at giving it.  Now, I'll give you ten seconds to walk back to that shiny black boat of yours and scram."
 
"You know very well that I cannot do that, Newman.  I will go back to the car.  Oh yes indeed.  I will place a call for assistance and that, my young obstinate, misguided friend, will be the end of your little charade.  Never say I didn't give you a chance." 
 
He turned and walked away but he would have thought twice about it had he seen the look on Newman's face.  The latter's eyes seemed about ready to explode from his head.  His face had become very pale and contorted and he was in obvious pain.  Suddenly, before Thorpe had taken a mere three steps, the younger man leaped into the air with superhuman agility and strength.  Before the unfortunate Doctor Thorpe realized what was happening, he lay on the ground with Newman's hands at his throat.  The doctor had little time to marvel at the strength in the slight young man's hands before he blacked out into unconsciousness.
 
Newman got up.  He seemed to have regained some of his former control.  He looked down at the inert Thorpe and shook his head.
 
"It's not like I didn't give you a chance, doc."  He chuckled softly.  "I just hope you're not afraid of ants because you're about to meet some pretty big and very advanced ones.  And man, can they fly!  If you ever liked Star Trek, you are going to love this.  Sure, there'll be a little pain at first, but you get used to it."
 
For a moment, Newman seemed to freeze on the spot as he turned his gaze towards the sky.  A sudden thick shaft of very bright light surrounded the two men as their silhouettes blurred.  A moment later, they had vanished.  Only the large black sedan with its official plates remained in the otherwise nondescript yard.
