Dear Journal~
A very relieved Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux here. I hope this finds y'all well; as for me, I couldn't be better!
I went on "AGT" last night, and I did my thing. I must have done something right because I got three "Yeses" from David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne, and Piers Morgan, the three judges on the panel! Boy, talk about being shocked!
I was so shocked, I cried! I did my very best, which was all I could do, and now I will be going to the next round in a month or so!!
Some of the acts they had on were downright strange; however, there were some that stood out: "The Voices Of Glory" comes to mind. These three kids (ages 16, 12, and 9), brothers and their younger sister, came on and sang "God Bless America" a capella style, in three-part harmony. They nailed it! They were awesome!!
This act made an impression on me because their mother is in a wheelchair; she was the victim of a drunk driver; she suffered severe injuries and is still recovering now. She was in a coma for eight months; she basically had to relearn how to do everything all over again. The kids would sing to her every time they saw her at the hospital; it is only by a miracle that their mom has come such a long way!
Another act that made a big impression on me was this troupe of drummers from New York City, called "Blackfire Percussion"; they ranged in age from eight to eighteen. They were nothing short of phenominal!
Then there was little sixteen-year-old me with nothing but a smile on her face and a Cajun French accordion in her hands--and a song in her heart. I don't think I am anything special: I just love to perform, and I want to share my talents with the world. I don't want to be famous (well, maybe I DO, just a little!); I just want to be respected!
Compared to acts like "Voices of Glory", "Rockin' Rory" (a man and his dog; the dog caught frisbees and did flips in the air), and "Blackfire Percussion", I am nothing! All I am is a young Cajun girl!
Now I get to practice for my next appearance, which will be the possibility of going on or getting cut. That's in at least a month from now. I have plenty of time to pick out a song and practice it until I make sure I have it down, letter-perfect.
The weather here is dry and hot, with temps in the 110's. I will be spending lots of time in the hotel pool while I'm here; we'll be here until Friday; then we will fly home back to Nashville ("we" being my daddy and myself).
Or sleeping in (whichever comes first!).
Tonight we are going back to the studio where the show is taped, to see who else makes it in or possibly move on to Round #2. It will be interesting; hopefully there will be many more worthy acts; I just don't like the stupid or strange acts, or those who claim they have talent when they, in reality, don't.
I'm no diva, but I certainly know if someone can sing or not, or if they can play music without coming off as lookin' like a jerka**!!
Well, I am going to eat some lunch, then wait an hour before I hit the pool. I'll swim for an hour or two, then get ready for the show tonight (watching only; not performing!). I will let you know how I did; if not, mama, daddy, or someone else in my family will. In any event, y'all will be informed; you won't be kept in the dark!
Until then, this is Ronee' signging off; I'll write in here when I get back home to Tennessee! Take care, and may God bless y'all! Love you!
~As always, your friend, Ronee' Le-Anne. :D
