Hi! My name is Jarrod Peter Swisherman! I am six years old; I live in Beaumont, Texas, with my family. I have a mommy, a daddy, a baby sister, Jerrica Marie (she's two), and a big brother, Trent Michael, who is nine.
I am in the first grade. My friend Alisan Powell, who is five, is in my class; she and I both want to become big singing stars.
I guess it's her fault. One day I went to her house to play, and she was watching a tape of a show called "Star Search" that was on a million years ago. There was this little girl on there, and ever since, she got hooked. I did too.
I watch "Star Search" with her whenever I go to her house, but I wonder if there were any little boys on there.
I like to sing songs by an old man named Frank Sinatra. One of my favorites by him is "New York, New York". I can sing that song forwards and backwards; I can sing it in my sleep! I know all the words! I also like "I Did It My Way"; I know all the words to that one, too. I also like songs by Sammy Davis, Jr. (he sometimes sang with Frank Sinatra); one of my favorite Sammy Davis, Jr. songs is "Candy Man"; I know all the words to that one as well. (I am very good at remembering things.)
I don't like the music of today; it's too junky, and it's not meant for little-kid ears like mine. Mama won't let me listen to it; she likes the old stuff. And I like the "Star Search" songs the people sang on there.
When I grow up, I guess you can say I want to be a singer. I'd also like to become an astronaut and go to the moon, or maybe an animal doctor and fix sick or hurt animals. But I mainly want to be a singer and sing the songs by Frank Sinatra or Sammy Davis, Jr. I love those old songs; I always have!
When I am not singing or taking voice lessons (I do that twice a week; I am very serious about my singing!), I love to play with my friends at school or on Saturday (besides Alisan, I also like Tommy Gentry and Ethan Akumai, who're my other two bestest friends!), draw/color, play with my toys that I got from Santa Claus last week (he did good; I got the car set I wanted, plus I got a new microphone and microphone stand!), and annoy my big brother.
Well, I'd better go; if mama sees that I am up, she might ship me to China, and then I will learn to be a Chinese kid and speak Chinese. Right now, I don't know any of that stuff. I will write again; take care, and bye!
~Your new pal, Jarrod Peter, six years old. :)
